Good content, taking me back to my connecting days, miss it, my first real bolt up job was the chiron building in the background (herrick) '98. Beer at lunch in the connex days.
I love watching these videos! It scares the poop outta me but super cool to see these guys/you do such hard important work. Keep ‘em coming!!
Coming straight out of #395 to say keep it up Brother and stay safe! Gotta love me some Bolts and Holes!

Apprentice here, I got a question. Why do some guys stab from the clip side? I was always told to stab through the piece? Genuinely asking. Dope videos by the way!

There is no right or wrong answer, it depends 100% on the piece your setting and the moves you need to make to set the piece as fast as possible. Also depends how the iron is fitting up, there were jobs that I stabbed my wrench from the clip side for the majority of beams and jobs that I would find myself going through the piece. Everyone that has been doing it a long time finds there own rhythm and style.

From my experience doing connecting it's normally best to do it from the piece side so you can hold the piece in while you stick the bolt in and screw it on the clip side

Yo Apprentice from Detroit Local 25, I recently asked the same question. I was told that the holes on the clip side could be slotted, thus giving you more leverage and letting you slide the piece up or down how you need it. Good luck yo be safe

More leverage to pull than to push.

To bring the beam out pull from live side, to bring it closer in pull from clip side. Read the holes and always be in a pull with your tool
Is that Hemi? Dude with the Stache..

Depending where you’re working you could be making atleast $28/ hour plus benefits for you and your family, pretty good trade to get into. Just look for your local Ironworkers Union

Depends on where you are. Local 721 in Ontario Canada starts at 28 and goes up to 46 and change as you complete your apprenticeship.
Is that Boston Matt connecting?

Didn't see any privilege up there, just hard work - and no one barking that disgusting pig latin either.
