Here are a few ironing tips, tricks and guidelines.
My grandmother taught me her ironing tips, tricks and guidelines when I was a young girl. She had the patience to allow me to learn for myself how an iron glides over the fabric because it takes some practice. It took a little bit of time for me to find my rhythm and not make common mistakes. Over the years, I have improved and found ways to build on her advice. In the process, I have made easy work of all my ironing projects.
My Grandmother had good advice.
Since then, not a whole lot has changed about the basic process of ironing. Technology offers many more options in the way an iron performs but I still use my Grandmother’s old ironing board on a weekly basis. Many of you reading this may not have had a patient Grandmother like mine, so I am offering these helpful suggestions and you can have the same perfect results, just like I do.
There are secrets to a perfect press. The most important aspect of the job is choosing the necessary equipment for professional ironing results. Don’t worry, it won’t cost too much money to make over your ironing arsenal. I’m not here to break your bank! In addition to great equipment, there are a few great products on the market that will help make ironing easier and (hopefully) more enjoyable. I’m here to share some of them with you.
I certainly don’t mind ironing fabric. When I iron clothing, it makes me feel good to know that I’m representing my family in the most polished way. When I iron fabric seams for a sewing project, it makes the fabric lay perfectly flat. So, whether you choose to iron a simple cloth napkin, a giant tablecloth, or a gathered skirt, each project will be pressed to perfection.

Late to the party but…I’ve been ironing my husband’s dress shirts for years but the past year, they just haven’t looked as crisp. I’ve bought new irons, a new ironing pad, different spray sizing/starch, and none of it has helped. Found your tips and I’m totally covering my board with tinfoil! 🤣 GENIUS! Thank you so much!

Jeanne Goodrich, That tip makes all the difference! Maybe the companies are calibrating their irons on the cool side? That's what I think too. I have to go up one notch for ironing silk (without the tin foil). Hmmm... Anyway, happy ironing! Renee

Thanks Renee . I have ordered the Rowenta pro on your recommendation. I have had such bad luck with irons, in the affordable price range. If I was rich I would give those ones with the big H2O reservoirs, for continuous steam, a go. Thanks for the ironing tips also. Thea xo

NM G, Thank you! It's naturally curly so it's a pain to tame. Maybe I should do a video on that? You're very sweet to take the time to send such a nice note! All the best to you, Renee

@@ReneeRomeo you really should do a hair tutorial! For being naturally curly, it has so much body and bounce! I have hair envy!

@@gigilarigi3132 It's taken me years to figure out the process. Surprisingly, it doesn't take as long to style as you'd think - thanks to better products and styling equipment. I'm at the end of my "6 months of only curly hair" rest period so it sounds like a plan! Thanks so much, Renee
