Damn son. 9615 was hauling ass. Never thought I'd see a road engine move that quickly. Must be late for work or something.

Thanks. Hadn't bought the 4K camcorder when I filmed that, unfortunately. Was hoping that it might have become an annual event. Plenty of other locations around there that I would have liked to have filmed at. The old railway level crossing at Jackfield for one.

Hi Ceri Yes. Was hoping that the Ironbridge rally would become an annual event as there were lots more locations that I would have liked to have filmed at (Jackfield level crossing for one) and it's local for me. I've upgraded to a better camcorder now and was planning to visit a few steam rallies during the year but, of course, that's not happened this year. Do you know of any similar road runs where the engines get out onto the public roads rather than just parading around a ring for a few minutes?

@@davidcattell7311 I don't know of any annual runs around here, but the organisers of the Telford event seem to arrange similar runs approx every other year (last year we had the Peaks and Plains run which was also excellent and very challenging) - it might be worth joining some traction engine groups on facebook 'The Steam Traction Engine Scene' etc as that's how we normally get to hear about 'non rally' events.

Oh, also for general steam on the road, if you do have a rally near you it might be worth scouting the roads around the area, a lot of us drive the engines to events, so you'll find a lot of us out and about 😁

@@Cezaelizabeth I live just off the main road between Wednesfield and Bloxwich and used to see a chap by the name of Peter Hough driving his Aveling & Porter steam roller AMY past occasionally, especially when there was an event on at West Park in Wolverhampton. Sadly, Peter died a few years ago and, I think, AMY and the red traction engine he also owned have been sold. I've seen photo's of AMY at a rally at Fawley Hill in 2013. Don't see many other steam engines on the roads nearby and the ones I do see are usually on low loaders on or near the M6 in Staffordshire.

@@davidcattell7311 The red Foster traction engine is still owned by the family. It attended the 2019 Onslow Park steam rally, which was believed its first ever steam rally, it having only previously attended Bloxwich Carnival in the 1960's. As Ceri's said, the first run was in 2015 as "The Wirksworth Assessment Trial", this was followed two years later in 2017 by "The Ironbridge Trial of Steam", and then in 2019 the "Peaks and Plains Steamathon". I suppose in a parallel universe April/May 2021 might have seen another similarly hilly road run - oh well. There are a few other fairly regular runs organised around the country, but you'd need to be prepared to travel! In the most part steam on the road isn't an organised public event, it's owners going on a joy ride, or travelling on a journey to/from an event. You were really in the right place to capture Brian overtaking Hedd on Bridge Road with the Baby Burrell! (poor traffic cone Lol) :)

The blue 'machine' seen around this point immediately before the Morris steam wagon is a 1926 built Super Sentinel timber tractor, works No. 6426. More details here :- prestonservices.co.uk/item/sentinel-tractor/. I've seen a photo in a book of one of these steam tractors, owned by the Great Western Railway, shunting wagons at Teignmouth station in Devon.
