They are both great, Murray is the first solo, but I think Adrian captured the mood of the song and Adrian's solo just blew me away when I first heard it. Even today

Yeah it was always one of my favourites. On the album I like the cymbal crash that introduces it and the underlying riff too

The guitar work on this song By Dave Murray and Adrian Smith is special no doubt one of their more difficult songs, this song by Harris never got due justice

First maiden song I ever learned, opened the doors to dueling, which eventually lead to harmony in general and the understanding of something more complex then a power cord. . . eg megadeth/metallica.

Very well done.! A much overlooked song. Adrian's solo in The Duellists is probably my favorite IM solo. He has so much feeling in his solos up to the 7th Son. His soloing style seems to have changed after that (my opinion).

I totally agree to this. His soloing has evolved since 1984. It may be due to the fact that he was more involved in the singwriting too...

I make the backing tracks myself. I made a tutorial video about the drums programing and another one about the recording process.

Superb, very well done indeed! May I ask some advice please for some recording equipment? I've just been using a loop station to record a few ideas but I want something more designed for the task, preserving sound quality and the ability to edit bits. Many thanks.

Matthew Clark Thank you so much my friend. I plug my guitar directly into my audio interface and record all the tracks with cubase 6.0 . The drums parts are Midi files that i make myself and I use Superior drummer 2.0 to convert them in audio file . Check my video called "tuto recording" it's all in there.

I didn't make a video of the bass because on this one I play with a pick, unlike Steve Harris, so I prefered not to film it.

Tremendous effort on an extremely underrated song. Well done. Also how anyone shits on this band I do not know.

amazing cover dude! im trying to play maiden solos but they are kinda hard to pull off at your level. How did you practice to be able to do them this smooth? any specific exercises? anyways, This song is amazing and you nailed it

Well first I started guitar at age 13 and I'm 44 today.... with 30 years of practice it's an average learning curve I guess. The key word is indeed "practice"... thanx for the comment man !

@@ElevatedLevetator no i didn't really stick to a certain type of exercise for my daily guitar playing. In fact I tried to play the solos and rythms of Maiden until I got them right. That was my way of practicing..

Why lower octave in the harmony after 2nd solo?

korhan soydan Adrian's part starts with a G on this octave and Dave's starts with a B on the octave up... like the original. They do the same interval and scales on the trooper.

Sam Faurie yeah in the trooper Adrian plays the third from lower octave G but in here, he plays higher G if you listen carefully.. dont get me wrong still nice, just curious why you chose that.
