iRobot Roomba 770 Wheel Repair

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Our Roomba did a massive burnout one day and killed the tread on the one tire. Decided to see what I could do instead of buying a new wheel assembly.

Thank you, saved me some stress from having to learn about the large pin. Your exploration helped me save my roomba after a water leak

Thanks for this. I picked up a 770 for $15 from Craigslist saying it didn't work anymore. I didn't know anything about them, but for $15, I could learn. The seller didn't know that all it needed was a good cleaning and tire treads (neither did I, I just cleaned it up cause I was grossed out and BAM, it worked great). I didn't know the tires were worn out until it got stuck a few times and that seemed odd. Looked up new tires and realized mine were just worn out. Now you've helped me figure out how to fix the tires. Thanks!

After replacing the battery and watching videos on Roomba programming, we realized that it is just a tread problem. We’d hate to pay $30 x 2 just to replace the tread. Thanks, from Florida, for this video!

This worked great on mine. Bought the tire on ebay just as he said. Did not take anything apart. Tried super-glue and a tire fell off after a few days. Did it again with an epoxy and I taped the ends together to dry. 4 months, no problem.

There is a guy on eBay that is selling treads that he's made using a 3D printer for less than $40 for the pair, shipping included. Just cut and pull the old tread rubber out and the slip the new treads onto the rims. No Glue necessary (Tight Fit). (LiveStrong type silicon bracelets and some small vacuum belts can be glued on, too) I'm working on figuring out why the 700 and 800 series has more problems wearing out tires than the 500 and 600 series. My mother's 880 has burned through two sets of wheels in less than three years. In the same time, the treads on a 595 and 535 still look almost as good as new on similar laminate flooring.

Great idea. I found a LEGO tire that matches the diameter of the Roomba wheel. The motor assembly doesn't need to be taken apart to replace it, and I don't worry about it peeling off.

Looks like a similar strategy should work. These resources might help you find the right size. Pay more attention to the outer diameter--you'll be cutting off the sidewall. wheels.sariel.pl/ www.brickowl.com/catalog/lego-parts/vehicle/tire-tread

I was looking at that same chart! I guess you go on the rim diameter and total diameter. I haven't yet had problems with my Roomba's tires, but did have to remove the stretched portion on my Braava's tires and re-glue. Thanks again. All this is good to know if you have a couple of 595's that are used daily. I wonder if there's effective glue that sets up slower than super glue.

I realize this video is a bit old, but.... The wheel can be removed from that press fit. You can either go for the gear with a tool and pry the gear up and off then push out the shaft. Or you can do what I did and use a flat screw driver on the wheel side and get between the wheel and the stationary plastic and gently pry it away. I had to do this because my daughter and sister in law have long hair. They shed and the long hairs wrapped around the shaft to the point that it caused additional friction and the roomba would not travel straight plus shortened battery life per cycle.

I put Kirby FBA_301291 3 Ribbed Vacuum Cleaner Belts on the tires. These fit snug. I gave them a quick stretch and they went right on without much disassembly Only remove the bottom plate and the three screws that hold each wheel. I turned belt inside out since the surface is better for grip. Then started the belt install where wheel fender guard covers most of the wheel, then pulled it over the rest of the wheels with my thumbs. Simple and easy. Not perfect tread because the belts are harder rubber and not quite as thick as the original tread.

We had zero tread, was worn flush to the plastic wheel edge. This worked great for me and was so easy! Roomba has traction again. Especially appreciate since irobot has twice failed to send me the wheels I ordered! I got 6 belts for about $12 so I have replacements too. Not sure how durable the fix will be but it seems solid.

Did the same and used rubber tire glue between the belt and the old tire to avoid it shifting. Still works fine after months of use.

@@cwal562 I think mine slipped due to the old tires still having a trace of tread"rounding" the surface. Great simple repair!

This is the route I'm going to take! Thank you for the video saves me the trouble of pulling apart the whole assembly, Cheers. I think I might be able to do it without even removing the wheel assembly. Can you tell me what type of glue you used again? I know you said it in the video but I'm having trouble finding it maybe put a Amazon link to the kind of glue you used?

Hello, I have an iroboot 700 device. When I start cleaning, it takes a simple step, and then there comes a red triangle with an exclamation point inside it. I cleaned all its parts, it is useless. What is the solution, thank you

Question sir: any possibility of using glue on the press fit wheel pin? Do you think it would hold? What glue do you recommend? Thanks 🙏👍... My rubber is good but wheel came loose and free spinning.. the pin holding rim, stripped or something.
