Shay was part of my teenage years, he was a great singer and had a fantastic sense of humour. Shay was a friend of my family and I am lucky enough to have a signed LP he gave me, it’s a treasured possession. RIP Shay.

Conor, Thanks for your comments. Your dad would have been in the first division then and must have spent a good few hours in the road. I would have heard him several times, two great bands and happy times.

This is excellent. The singer is Frankie Mc'Donald' father of Keith and Lorainne' of the showband show. He has done an excellent imitation of the showband sounds. The song's title, is really an Irish take on Paddy Cole's song' bourbon street. There were some great musicians in Ireland, during the 60's and 70's. It seems that you really had to be talented, to be in a band. Any no hoper can and will be heard, these days, especially on local radio. All we are getting now is country and Irish, performed by terrible Irish country singers with terrible singing voices. Those stations, have done some massive damage.

Thanks for taking the time to comment, You are absolutely correct. When I heard the song I compiled the video having played with Frankie in the Army Band, the Saints Showband, the Central Seven Showband, etc,. A great musician, but more important, a nice fellow.

Michael Dineen Michael, the recording was done in the "Bandroom" studios in Mullingar. Frankie and Keith McDonald Trumpets & vocals. Loraine Saxophone & vocal. Frankie's other son Peter played drums. Adrain Dolan produced and engineered the track, he also played bass. 0lly Hennessey Piano/Keyboards. Des Moore Guitar/Banjo. Chuck Daly and Jimmy Coleman played Trombones. Captain Declan Winston the Army band conductor even played Sax. John Haugh also played Sax. A bit of talent there, all in all. Bet it was some session. Hope this helps
