@@michaelshmilovich5551 I went on website to try and work out who to vote for, there doesn't seem to be a candidate who is friendly to Israel or standing up for Jews and against antisemitism. I have a pile of leaflets in my door for the upcoming elections, none of them are brave enough to knock or canvas anymore, they know everyone hates them, but they know that none of the candidates are much different, so their agenda will carry.

I think so. 40,000 civilians dead 13,000+ children dead UN staff, reporters, medics and medical personnel, patients and the list of murders goes on and on. Do you know how many Palestinians died at hands of IDF between January and October 6th of 2023? You don’t condone the murder of 40,000 people. 13,000 children since October of 2023 and they say they are going for another seven months more most likely. Israel has killed as many Palestinians from January to October as were killed in the previous “war” in Gaza ten years ago. They claim that the “war” began on October 7, 2023 though. Did Hamas cross a line that day? Absolutely!!! Does 13,000 children need pay with their lives ? Israel has the right to defend itself, against toddlers.. Hamas began as a political party that was not allowed to govern itself because of Israeli interference. Sound familiar?… The unilateral decision and actions of Israel made life difficult in Gaza and the West Bank, dependant upon Israel for electricity, water supply, and many other essential services because of the limited access to their country for which Israel patrolled the land borders, the coastline and the skies with financial assistance from America and military aid which gave them superiority in most every way over the Palestinians who were not permitted in certain buildings as Jews or even to move freely from one region to another without multiple checkpoints.

I am a Christian South African who supports Israel 100% - and I feel ashamed of our SA government for taking them to the ICC..almost every Christian in South Africa is praying for a new government - we voted yesterday

It's a minority. The Israeli government are not popular in Ireland. I'm a 40 year old working class Irish Gael from the countryside now living in the city. People in Ireland are far more sympathetic to Palestine. In Northern Ireland it's the British colonisers who fly the Israeli flatm Irish fly the Palestinian flag. The Irish in this comment section are very much a minority and would be called West Brits if they voiced their opinion in most working class parts of Ireland.

I'm Irish, live in Ireland and am horrified and embarrassed by the viciousness of the anti-Israel and pro-Hamas sentiment of my country. It's ok for people to have their grievances with Israel and sympathy for Palestinians, but things have gone far beyond that now and turned into a festering pit of hatred. It's a bit mad really, the conflict is obviously triggering some kind of oppressed Irish vs British oppressors vibe in our psyches, and it's like people here are just projecting the Ireland-Britain history onto the Israel and Palestine situation, and treating it like Palestinians are the innocent Irish and Israel is the evil British. It also seems like we are trying so hard to impress the world with how liberal and left we are, trying to overcompensate, and of course being Pro-Palestinianism immensely satisfies the far-left folks, so we are scoring massive liberal points. It's like we have an obsessive need for virtue-signaling to the world like a vulnerable-narcist with their instagram profile, especially with trying to convince the world not just that we are most liberal of all but that we are also most righteous of all, and liberals don't even make that distinction between the two, as for them being liberal and far-left equates to being righteous, and also being a victim equates to being righteous, which is why they thrive on identifying themselves as victims and with anyone who is a victim according to their narrow highly filtered criteria of victimhood. Yes, the Ireland-stands-with-Ukraine thing has run out of steam, possibly because It was hard to portray the Russians as the evil British when Britain had already supplied and trained the Ukrainian army with anti-tank missile technology that had prevented the Russians from galloping into Kiev, and Zelensky admiring Churchill. Perhaps in portraying themselves as eternal victims (exacerbated by the media it has to be said), the Irish perversely gain in self-esteem: it’s a way to make up for the impotence of not being or daring to become a member of NATO. That impotence must have been felt when Finland and Sweden joined the club that Britain is also a part of and whose Air Force keeps an eye on the skies just west of Ireland for pesky Russian intruders. It’s all a sorry episode for Ireland which puts great emphasis on its own history. But that emphasis today has forgotten more recent history when former PM Cameron described the Bloody Sunday deaths at British Army hands as “unjustified and unjustifiable.” But apparently the Oct 7 1200 butchered in the Western liberal democracy of Israel, as the UN head put it, “did not happen in a vacuum.” Imagine if the British PM had lectured Ireland like that about Bloody Sunday! Ten years of Troubles deaths occur in one day in Israel, then within a few days there is I read a mob outside the Israeli embassy in Dublin denouncing Israel. The Irish cheered Cameron’s conclusion to the Savile Inquiry into Bloody Sunday in about 2012. But where did “unjustified and unjustifiable” go? The Irish have forgotten their most recent history, and that most unIrish-like cynicism and hardness does not bode well for any talk about Irish reunification/United Ireland. The whole Hamas thing has turned many Irish who should know better into the “No surrender” po-faced Unionists of the 1970s and 80s. Even the young Irish lady basketball players who refused to stand with Israel’s team in Latvia earlier this year (where so many Jews were shot out of hand within living memory during WW2) looked forlorn and wretchedly miserable. It was an insult to their Latvian hosts, moreover. I imagine the Ukrainian ladies’ team would have stood with the Israeli team.

I agree 100% the reporting is shameful and embarrassing for the Israeli government and people, shining a light on their genocide and comparing their holocaust in Gaza to the atrocities committed against Jews and minorities of WW2? There’s no comparison which is why Israel has announced that they are going to continue killing Palestinians until at least the end of this year. They are confident that they can surpass the numbers of murdered beyond that of Hitler’s ethnic cleansing.

For what - reporting on the vast scale of human misery over there? The vast deaths of civilians? The shocking destruction of Gaza? The targeting of and deaths of fellow journalists? What next: "They're only Palestinians - I don't give two shites how many of Them are killed"? What kind of callous person are you? I always say that we Irish, who are currently helping to feed, house and educate literally millions of other people around the world through our charities such as Goal, Concern, and others, and many individual charities and individuals doing everything from creating schools for orphans in Nepal to, yes, trying to bring aid to Palestinians, are caring and socially aware people. Offset against that are people like You, casually indifferent about the human misery of others. What part of Ireland are you in? What county? Where are you living here that looks at desperate Palestinian families in rubble and goes "Feck 'em - I'm with Israel 1,000 per cent against Those civilians"?

@@larryt4884 Because I'm a native Irishman from Clare now living in Limerick and I've been in several different circles. University campus, working class labouring job, military, and museum maintainance, and in all those locations, across a range of classes and political leanings, Israel is nearly universally disliked by the majority. They're viewed as colonisers with a lot in common with the British. They also deliberately killed our soldiers on two separate occasions. And aside from in the military, Palestinian flags are commonplace. I've seen them on a bank, in a university parking lot, on multiple cars and windows both in the country and the city. On murals all across the island from Limerick to Derry. The only people I've seen openly flying Israeli flags were the Ulster Unionists.

No they're not. There aren't any pro-Israel rallies in Ireland, are there? No. Councils aren't flying Israeli flags, are they? No. Israel flags aren't being draped over bridges etc. are they? No. Palestinian flags and public protests, however, are commonplace. So, in what possible reality is the complete absence of visibility of public support for Israel some kind of 'standing with Israel' moment by the Irish public, when there are public protests and rallies of support for Palestinians all over the place, with Palestinian flags commonplace all over the country etc? What - the less you see Any support for Israel, the more there actually is?! Nonsense.

A truly shameful act by our government. I was sickened to see the "butcher's apron" (Palestinian flag) flying beside our national flag at our Government buildings.

Oh my God. Finally I met a person speaking Gaeilge. Is it reall?😮 I traveled through Ireland in 2005 and I didn't meet a person speaking Gaeilge fluently. I went there with my friend of Russian origin who learned Gaeilge in 90s. He spoke Irish much better than Irish. Jewish people succeeded to restore Hebrew even after 2000 years of exile.
