I loved visiting Ireland in 2008 for 10 days in July. We traveled SW COAST AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE! We saw beautiful castles, churches, old ruins, cemeteries, fields, and lakes and wished we could stay longer. The people are so friendly and we stayed in Bed and Breakfast homes with such wonderful people...will never forget!! Thank you so much for your Ballads. I have always loved Irish music and love listening to the different styles...Ballads, Flute, Harp Doolaman and Celtic pieces.

I can't help noticing the absence of When Irish Eyes Are Smiling which is also absent from all the collections I have bookmarked and wonder why everyone seems to hate the song. I'm English and I hate injustice.....music soothes the savage beast...or something like that. I must have been Irish in a previous existence cos I've always sung Irish ballads in the bath and the shower...sounds so good...to me at least. Thanks for this post, just lovely.

Would love to reconnect with cousins, uncles or others back in Ireland. I m Scottish, however my late father is the one with Irish Roots. Can remember in my youth visiting family relations in and around the Donegal area, remembering one lived in a castle. Family name is Friel.
