Iris Build - A CNC Project
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
After seeing a wood iris a while ago I knew I had to make one. The plans for this one are available on Instructables (www.instructables.com/id/mechanical-iris-1/). This design can be cut out by hand without too much trouble; the Instructables page also offers PDF files that can be printed, glued to wood and then cut with a scroll saw. However, I wanted to use my small CNC for some more accuracy. The DXF files are also available for download at Instructables. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch and some scrap hardware in the junk bins. Fun build. Thanks for taking a look!

Hi Kevin. Thank you for your time and comments.
Dan - Always like your projects and videos. You are the king of integrating the small cnc, inkscape and jscut. That is all I use now too due to your videos.

Hi Robbie. Thanks. These two programs work extremely well together. After trying many different CAD and CAM programs for years I've found these two to be the most intuitive and easy to figure out. And for hobby work free programs rock. Todd Fleming gave a great gift to us CNC tinkerers when he created Jscut.
Yes. Thank you for sharing. Been a subscriber for some time now. Completely enjoy your works.

Hi John. Thanks. Fun easy project.
Very neat. Hadn't heard of jscut! I may have to make an iris on my CNC at some point.

It's a cool open program. Another free option is Carbide3D. Best of luck.

Thanks. This was cut on a small 3040 CNC purchased on eBay.

Hi Dexter. The screws have to be a little loose for everything to pivot.

It's a relatively affordable, small 3040 CNC. They are all over eBay and Amazon and cost around $600.
Can i order one from you or somewhere ?

I have found this woodworking book “pepe amazing plan” (Google it) perfect for me. A few of the topics outlined in the book include wood working techniques, justification on the development cycles of trees, and different lumber characteristics that carpenters favor. I actually had to get a second copy for my father.
very detailed plans for that I found on stodoys.
