Very good video. I imagine the mental occupation of the loco pilot until he reaches destination station forgetting fully about his family. Kudos to their dedication.
Great video mate. It always amazes me how the Indian loco pilot sees with long hood leading. They are one of the best drivers in the world, seeing that they have to not only watch out for people but cattle as well.

I have watched many footplate videos but this is the best. Where others stare mindlessly out of the window at the track ( which can be seen from any coach window seat ) your camera has noted the notching up and down as also the Auto Train Brake handle A9 being applied at the speed restriction. The red handle is the SA 9 which is operative on loco only. For the 1st time I felt I was actually in the cab. Congrats on a great shoot.! It is great to see the classic ALCO with the old system right side driving seat. I feel this is the correct position.

+5 kmph overspeeding ........ Great LP he is driving very safely. He is doing it on straight tracK..... I think non ac icf coach can run safely 125-130kmpl on straight track.

Feel sorry for the train engineer/driver as his view window is very limited (forget about 90 degree view, he does not have even 45 degree view). For safety, all the locomotives that pulls passenger trains, be it express or shuttle service in India should have driver cabin on both front and back side of the locomotive and NOT behind the engine cabin. They can use the ones shown in this video for local freight traffic or utility use at train stations or as backup locomotives for freight traffic.

The new generation of diesel loco's are being manufactured with driving cabs at both ends over Indian Railways. I agree the view is very restricted in Long Hood Forward LHF position.

Why do they sit long hood / opposite side to the signals? Isn’t it difficult to spot them during the day? The driving cabins are diagonal so he could hv opted to sit in front left side short hood.

In SHF(Short hood front) it won't be a hectic problem, but in LHF(Long hood front) sometimes at sharp curves noticing signals will be a problem. That's the reason why ALP(Assistant loco pilots) have to be alert sitting on the right side. But the LP(Loco pilot) sits on left side in most of other locomotives like AC and EMDs.

WDM-3A locos have a maximum speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). The gear ratio is 65:18.

Isn't BB200 EMD G8 loco? Indian WDM3 is Alco.
It would be better if you would sometimes focus camera outside the window to get LP view..
