I don't think the bigger nations like playing at Turners Cross. The pitch is pretty tight there and it's hard to get a passing game going in midfield. It's also a ground that kind of swallows you up if you concede a lot of set-pieces. I was there live the other night where Armstrong and Phillips stood out, not just for their goal contributions but their general play.

Italy scored one additional goal over the line but it was not reconised.

Very poor from the Irish at the end. How many warnings did they need that they were going to concede if they did not get control of the ball. We've been here before in 1998. Under Brian Kerr Ireland won the European championships at U16 U17 & U21. Very few of these players will be playing football in 5 years time. One in a hundred make it..

Yeah, but we don't need all of them to make it if we get a few quality players. We got some very good players out of those youth teams. Robbie Keane, Damien Duff, Richard Dunne, John O'Shea, Andy Reid etc.

@@fuzzylogiceire The situation changed and clubs from the major leagues were able to bring in kids from all over Europe reducing the chances from Irish players who had the ability to break into a youth set up. Irish players are good value for National league clubs where budget are bigger than many Scottish club sides. Without a strong domestic league Irish clubs are not competitive enough to grow. The prospects are, we could just have a feeder club league which is just as bad and does nothing for Irish football

The second Irish goal, I dunno what the defenders were doing stop playing while the ball was moving while protesting don't these guys learn...

So unusual for the Irish to get into a fight before closing😂

Italy a very poor team by Italy's standards and if "Ireland" could not get a win at home it's a lot of bull about nothing. Some of the "bull manure" might improve the field, if not the team.

Goalies fault , why was he jogging to get the ball when it went out of play at 93.55 , injury time. He should know better. And even worse you can see him jogging back to take the kickout.. clueless. Watch Buffon, the master.. when his team were leading and he wanted to waste time on the clock , he would run in the opposite direction to the ball gone out of play and talk to some defender before then going to get the ball. Friggin steward kicked it back to him too.

Italian team played mediocrely at best, without Gnonto they would be poor. They got lucky, but it shows that if you keep trying and put shots on target until the very last second it can pay off….Getting frustrated and angry does not help or change anything; it just makes you look like a sore loser; even if in this case it was a tie.
