Ireland Is Building $12BN First Metro Project

Ойын-сауық

The construction of one of the biggest mega projects in Europe, which is the Ireland’s First Metro Project, is about to start.
Metrolink is a mega engineering and architecture mega project in Dublin, Ireland, which is going to transform the transportation of Ireland by 2030.
and have more than 50 million passengers annually.😮
The most important thing is that Ireland is not the only country that currently does not have a national metro system, but several of the most important countries in the world do not have them either, which we have mentioned in the video.
In your opinion, write in the comments which countries do not have a national metro system.
And how much do you think this project can help Ireland?🤔
Stay tuned until the end of the video to know everything about this mega project

I'm not a 'metro' guy, and I've never travelled outside the 'British Isles', but I know for a fact Canada has them; Toronto and Montreal, at least, and probably others; if not fully fledged subways, light rail systems for definite). I don't know too much about Australia or Brazil, but as well as having extensive overground commuter/suburban rail networks in Melbourne and Sydney (and most likely the other State Capitals), I believe Sydney has broken ground on a Subway project, which puts them ahead of Dublin, at any rate. In fact, given the nature of Irish infrastructural projects, I would be highly dubious of that 2024 start date. Indeed, I'll be harbouring doubts about the while thing until they've got a tunnel boring machine _in the ground!_ Doubts that I won't put to bed _entirely_ until I see wheels turning on steel. The only reason I'm not writing in here that I don't think my nephews and nieces, even, will see a Dublin Metro, is that (a) it is a Dublin project, rather than, say, a Cork or Limerick one; (b) it brings with it a golden opportunity for the politicians to _really_ snarl up the Dublin traffic it is meant to ease, for as much as a decade; and (c) the opportunity for graft in the tendering and contracting process will surely even trump the inevitable - and many - planning objections. Even at that, the proposals will very probably be kicked around between court appeals and tribunals for _years!_ Returning to the question at hand though, I know South America has been endowed with almost as many metros as Europe, and I am almost certain that in Brazil, São Paulo, at least has a subway. Of course, no doubt, all this information is readily available on Wikipedia, and by now, other commentators will probably also have contributed on the subject of Brazilian, Australian and Canadian metros, as well as putative Irish ones! This is just my spontaneous (?!) 'top of the head' offering...

ok a few things here, these are all my opinions anyway: I think if they build a metro system, it should include stops at the airport, main stations and dart connections and there should be a stops for temple bar. If you ever took the 747 bus, which, in my opinion, was the best, but then got discontinued, you could see it was just crossing the tunnel from the airport and straight after you could see tram stops. Wouldn't it make more sense maybe connect the tram network to the airport? They have done it in Edinburgh and i think it's great as you just need to jump on the tram from the city centre and you get straight to the airport. The good thing about tram/metros is that they don't follow the traffic system therefore you can plan your trip knowing that the time it will take is more or less the same, unlike of course the bus.

Dear friend, I completely agree if it was connected to the airport, it would be much, much better and we hope that they will also consider this.🙏

The metro will have a station at Dublin airport but you can not connect the luas tram because it carries 40+ million per annum and the luas trams would be full as they left the Dublin airport which carries a lot more people than Edinburgh airport

@@AnthonyMcRedmond-Vg2ry hm it currently has 32 million passengers and it's served by local busses leaving every 15-20 minutes.... in 2022 the number of passengers was 28 millions. A Luas service would definitely help out. They used to have the 747 bus which took only 15 minutes to the city centre but got removed before pandemic and never put back.

Metrolink connects to the Airport but that is a secondary advantage. The big advantage is linking a large commuter area in the north of Dublin that is poorly served currently and that can see significant further development. ML will connect with the two new DART lines at Glasnevin at the edge of the city core. It will turn connect with LUAS Green and Red at O’Connell Street (some walk in between stops). Following this it will connect with the original DART line at Tara Street. Then finally the LUAS Green Line (which may ultimately upgrade to Metro in south county Dublin) at Charlemount. It will essentially be the spine of PT in Dublin. It will be transformative really.

@@fgrion that’s Covid numbers. It’s way over capacity in many parts. Can only carry 40% of what metro can.

@HIGH_WORLD_OFFICAL because we haven't the right people in government our planning is non existant and people will protest against it ...not in our back yard attitude and it will run billions over just like our dearest hospital in the world.
