Ireland along with Norway & Spain recognise Palestine as independent state
Ireland, Norway and Spain have officially recognised Palestine as a separate state.
Meanwhile, Israel's foreign minister ordered Israel's ambassadors from Ireland and Norway to immediately return to Israel following the announcement.

The West Bank is the clearest example of Israeli apartheid. 700,000 Jewish settlers with full civil rights, freedom of movement. 2 million Muslims and Christians living next to them with no civil rights, who can't build without Israeli permission, subject to checkpoints, surveillance, curfews, military raids, kidnappings, demolitions, living under Israeli military law, taxes collected by Israel but no civil rights. That is textbook apartheid. Jerusalem system of residency for Muslims and Christians is also apartheid. Gaza is much, much worse than apartheid.

@@am1156 They only give it limited recognition officially as a non-member observer state of the UN - not a full sovereign state. This is different. These countries are giving it 100% recognition and last week Ireland announced in the UN that it will be advocating for Palestine's full membership of the UN. This is what Israel fears most. Observer status - which those other countries granted - was never a threat.

@@helenaville5939 143 of the 193 members of the United Nations General Assembly voted in favour of Palestine joining the UN. They want Palestine to be a recognised state by the UN. How is that different from what Norway/Ireland/Spain are doing now?
The only thing I don't get is how nobody's willing to admit that Hamas is doing the right thing, even though the only way we've gotten to this point without Palestine being completely wiped out is the resistance against genocide that Hamas offers. I'd even go so far as to say that if Jewish people in Germany had such an armed force, the Holocaust could have been prevented. It feels like political leaders and activists alike get off on their suffering, unwilling to admit that Palestine itself is working the hardest at preventing more suffering.

Sadly, they appear to have become 'collateral' along with the poor sods in Gaza. Even many Israelis think it's an acceptable sacrifice to make if Hamas fighters can be defeated, which I think is unlikely. Mengistu had been held for ten years by Hamas and the Israeli government didn't bother to get him back before 07 Oct.
