I’m Iranian and I never liked calling myself Shia or Sunni, but technically I was born Shia. In university i was surrounded by many sunnis, and would frequently try to learn more about what seemed to me like a whole new lens of Islam that I was never taught. I would attend both Shia and Sunni events/talks. When you compare both side to side, it’s honestly not even a debate, So naturally, I inclined towards the one that followed the Quran and the Sunnah of Muhammad peace be upon him. Alhamdullah, Allah opened my mind and allowed my heart to understand. Following the Quran and Sunnah just makes more sense. And if more of our people would do their own research I’m sure they’ll come to realize what is called Islam in our country is so skewed. My heart breaks for the people who are living under a criminal regime that uses religion as a weapon. But the thing is, many will leave Iran, but still refuse to open their eyes to what Islam truly is. So they maintain that disdain for what they see as Islam, and completely lose their souls in these western countries trying to be like “everyone else”. At that point, you can’t blame the government - only your own ignorance. May Allah guide our people 🇮🇷
