We also have this instrument. But the front of ours is covered with leather and the back is made of pumpkin. A little smaller. I saw a similar instrument of this last instrument in China. So very very beautiful🌹💚 Greetings from Turkey 😊

The original term in Persian is "kamança"... "Kaman" means "bow" and "-ça" suffix means "short" in Persian. So, "kamança" means "short bow" originally... It passed on Turkish language as "kemançe" 500 years ago. Now, we call it "kemençe". But ours is different from yours. The instrument we call "kemençe" has a different shape and a different sound. The instrument here in Dina's hands is called "kabak kemane" in Turkey.

Kurdish people in all Kurdistan- Iran, Iraq, Turkey, and Syria are using it from long time ago not only the place you mentioned. Kurds say that it's a Kurdish musical instrument. Also, it's name is Kurdish. I think you should have mentioned that not to make it Persian but that it has been added to the Persian music since the time you mentioned. If you think search truly about it you are going to see that most places you mentioned Kurds are living there and from them it became used in the other East- Persian couture . While you did not mention at all how it's used in Kurds places in Turkey and Syria. If you want I can share to you the resources for what I said, also how Kurds are using it different styles. By the way Thanks for your understanding, with all love and support for your channel. 🌹

I love this musical instrument. According to this lady, Abo Nasr Farabi might have been the inventor or, so to say, created this beautiful instrument. Faryab is a province which is located in northern Afghanistan where Abo Nasr was born. But sadly we never knew anything about this magnificent musical instrument. I love your music Rastak Band, I am not sure if you agree with this “ Band” or should I call you, group?❤️
