iRacing: Best Sound Settings. A simple free upgrade.

Ойындар

I today's video we talk about the best sound settings for iRacing, enabling you to hear more from the tyres and drive faster and more consistently as a result. Simply adjusting the sound settings will let you hear what the tyres are doing and help you to avoid spins, crashes and finish more races with better results.
This was one tip I was given when I first started out in iRacing and it was a gamechanger helping me to make to move from real cars to sim with a lot more ease.

Thanks, great explanation, I just shaved off 0.6 seconds in the first session right after watching this video. It seems like I wasn’t pushing my tyres enough. I was always scared of this “scrubbing” noise and thought it meant my tyres were sliding so I’d lost time. Now it’s much better. Thank you!

Love this video Gavin. Now I can link to this instead of trying to type an explanation of the tyre model to help folks out. Nice one! :) Being able to hear better how much tyre scrub is going on definitely makes a significant difference to managing tyre heat and life, improving driving technique... and ultimately pace and consistency. Big thumbs up from me bro!

Interesting, I will definitely give this a try. Great timing as well, I've been trying my hand at the TCR races and was wondering why my tires felt shot before the end of a 15 minute race.

this is exactly the kind of video ive been needing. Thank you so much! ive been trying to take your advice on being really smooth on the steering input. But when I look at VRS i see the pros steering graphs have a lot more noise and less smoothness compared to mine. i thought i was doing something wrong. But i now assume its just that they have more powerful Direct drive wheels compared to my belt driven wheel. So my wheel cant produce the shakey feedback around corners that i see pros doing. I will go back to being really smooth with an emphasis on the sound my tires are making to make sure im getting the best traction i can get. One thing i would have liked is hearing some more examples of bad tire sounds but i will make do!

Im currently in the process of upgrading my headphones. I previously had the wireless USB/bluetooth "Stealth 600 Gen2's" (Turtle Beach). Just last week I purchased the DT770 Pro's (80ohm). According to my research, these are the best sounding studio quality headphones one can purchase in the $150-$200 price range. I had to buy an AMP to get adequate volume from them so I bought the EK10 DAC/AMP combo by FiiO to power them which made a huge difference. However, I swear that I'm hearing a decent amount of noise/distortion in iracing. Dialing down the engine sound in iracing does help but I'm still bothered by the but of distortion I can hear. My question is - Is this little bit of poppy distortion normal in iracing or should I choose a different pair of headphones rather than the Beyerdynamic DT770's? What are you running? I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Thank you!

Hi, off the top of my head, no, but it can be found in the data. Easiest way to monitor is using the readouts on the dash, keep them around 164 to 171. Anything over that and the grip drops away.

What about road surface noise, quieter or louder than the tyres noise? (Dirt Rally 2.0)
