Watching the procedure helps. My bottom button wasn't working so I opened and found out that my battery had swollen to a point that it had buckled the metal plate inside and the outside button couldn't reach the inside board button. Anyway I ordered a new battery and will follow your instructions. Thank you for posting the Video!

Okay, I just finished and charging the battery. I had a little difficulty soldering the new one in. I pulled the tab back up and soldered the backside of the tab, along with the board, then folded the tab back down while holding it down with a tool, then heating up with the soldering iron. It booted up just fine & watched some KZread already! Thanks!

Even if you do it yourself, you may break it even more. I once stuffed up an different device because the screen cracked from the heat gun, and I severed a ribben cable as well. The costs ended up amounting to more than I could get second hand. Companies like Apple, Samsung, and more, are absolutely cunts. Especially Apple.

Some differences on my 5th gen: 1. The home button is on a flex cable stuck to the metal plate, and must be removed before the plate can come off 2. There are no pull tabs, only glue. Although it was relatively easy to get a tool under it for removal. 3. (This is a difference in methods, not device) I just straight up pulled the battery flex off the board. Attempting to desolder the connections got me nowhere, soldering the new battery on top appears to work fine.

Yeah these were my exact thoughts too. I do have a soldering gun, but not worth taking this effort just to repair an old iPod. If I were good at soldering it would be less of a turn off, but unfortunately I'm not :( Last time I repaired an old phone's power buttons via solder it turned out to be an excruciating trial-and-error experience. Had to buy more button replacements due to screwing it up so much. Never again.

I mean yeah i did this on my ipod touch it's a 6th gen and I kinda knew the battery was bad because well it died real fast and also when charging it would jump to like 70 percent from like 20 percent now it charges somewhat normally for me now still a little fast to me me but not like before not in the slightest and it lasts waaay longer than what it did but it's a 1000 mha battery it was kinda tired to start with because they want it like paper thin so battery suffers. It still gives me a lot of use for music when I'm in my car works great. But thing is what some say which is confusing is that they say it can be the actual battery or something else on the iPod that just like died and saps away the battery and well you got like a 50/50 shot on which it could be which sucks I've heard that (tronixs fix and dankpods on a colab) the battery has been changed but still drains heaps quick but you still gotta do it to find that out

I have replaced batteries on 3 different ipods that I own. Every time, the new battery gives me fluctuating charge readings and seems to drain rapidly even when the ipod is not used or is turned off. The fully charged battery will be dead in 24 hours. The 3 batteries I bought were from different battery manufactuers and different sellers. Am I that unlucky that all the batteries were bad?
