Same here, you just saved my iPod, it took a big fall and one of the battery welds came loose, thanks to your amazing explanation I was able to fix it, muito obrigado and best regards from Portugal
Great video made replacing battery easier than I thought those screws are sooo small
I do need to thank you, I’ve just followed your video and your details were spot on and i now have an iPod in full working condition without the battery warning not turning red after a few minutes
My battery cooked the connections. Very well shown. I will have to improvise to save this deadpod
Have an old ipod. Got into repairing gameboys last year and got decent at it. Then also managed to fix my phone from water damage somehow and thinking of just repairing my old ipod from the skills I got
Watching the procedure helps. My bottom button wasn't working so I opened and found out that my battery had swollen to a point that it had buckled the metal plate inside and the outside button couldn't reach the inside board button. Anyway I ordered a new battery and will follow your instructions. Thank you for posting the Video!

Okay, I just finished and charging the battery. I had a little difficulty soldering the new one in. I pulled the tab back up and soldered the backside of the tab, along with the board, then folded the tab back down while holding it down with a tool, then heating up with the soldering iron. It booted up just fine & watched some KZread already! Thanks!

When you applied solder to the pads during the removal, were you using low melt solder or just regular solder and what temp were you using on your iron?

I have a 6th. Generation iPod touch with a battery in need of replacement. I don’t have the right tools to do it, or a battery supplier close by. I’ll have to order from apple & find someone to put it in. Really good to know what is involved! Thank you 🙏🏽 RaniYogaDevi #RaniYogaDevi #footprintswellness

Even if you do it yourself, you may break it even more. I once stuffed up an different device because the screen cracked from the heat gun, and I severed a ribben cable as well. The costs ended up amounting to more than I could get second hand. Companies like Apple, Samsung, and more, are absolutely cunts. Especially Apple.
"Thin metal pry tool" Just say "razor blade," LOL!!!
Great video! Any idea when iPhones will be this thin with a 6.5 in screen? Even the 13 is so thick! Thx
@TheFixTech
2 жыл бұрын
The thickness of the newer phones are partly due to the size and strength of the battery needed to power the phone.
I watched this video and threw my iPod in the trash and bought a Sony mp3 player.
my iPod battery is trash. thanks, ill try this
Thank you for such a detailed tutorial. I just have one ignorant question: @4:23 - why is it necessary to apply a little bit of solder to the battery connectors? I am about to attempt this with my iPod, but just curious as to why that step is required. Thank you again!

It helps to mend the solder onto the battery terminal and board together.

@@TheFixTechThank you for the reply! I should have clarified. You applied solder to the connectors of the battery that was getting replaced. I was just wondering the need to apply solder at that point as well. I mean I still did it. I’m not questioning your method at all by the way. Thanks to this video, I now have a working iPod! Thank you again!
if the cover breaks can i put electrical tape?
I bought an ipod touch 6th generation, the guy who sold said it need battery replacement but the thing is in 10 minutes it s battery drains but when I plug it in for 5 minutes it gets full. Do you think it can be an ipod
Some differences on my 5th gen: 1. The home button is on a flex cable stuck to the metal plate, and must be removed before the plate can come off 2. There are no pull tabs, only glue. Although it was relatively easy to get a tool under it for removal. 3. (This is a difference in methods, not device) I just straight up pulled the battery flex off the board. Attempting to desolder the connections got me nowhere, soldering the new battery on top appears to work fine.
May I ask the make and model of your electric screwdriver? Thanks.
Hey I was wondering what would happen if I just use a battery with a larger capacity than this 1000 mAh one in my ipod 6? Would it make it last longer?
@TheFixTech
Жыл бұрын
You can use a larger capacity as long as the voltage is close. I’ve used 7th and 8th gen batteries on the 5, 6th gen…
The link to the battery in this post is for the 6th generation. What is the battery link for a 7th generation? Thank you

So I started this following the footage but when it came to removing the inner plate mine wouldn’t come away as the touch button cable is connected to the frame… yours just pulls away leaving the home button in situ ?
What you need to be careful is you need to take off home button contact, an orange thing or Else will leaving your iPad not work. Thanks a lot creator for ruining my iPod with missing steps...
What electric screwdriver is that?
Is there a way to get pictures back from Old iPod touch- 4th and 6th. Pictures weren’t backed to the cloud and I had to factory reset them because they because disabled for 20,000,000 minutes???

Yeah these were my exact thoughts too. I do have a soldering gun, but not worth taking this effort just to repair an old iPod. If I were good at soldering it would be less of a turn off, but unfortunately I'm not :( Last time I repaired an old phone's power buttons via solder it turned out to be an excruciating trial-and-error experience. Had to buy more button replacements due to screwing it up so much. Never again.

I mean yeah i did this on my ipod touch it's a 6th gen and I kinda knew the battery was bad because well it died real fast and also when charging it would jump to like 70 percent from like 20 percent now it charges somewhat normally for me now still a little fast to me me but not like before not in the slightest and it lasts waaay longer than what it did but it's a 1000 mha battery it was kinda tired to start with because they want it like paper thin so battery suffers. It still gives me a lot of use for music when I'm in my car works great. But thing is what some say which is confusing is that they say it can be the actual battery or something else on the iPod that just like died and saps away the battery and well you got like a 50/50 shot on which it could be which sucks I've heard that (tronixs fix and dankpods on a colab) the battery has been changed but still drains heaps quick but you still gotta do it to find that out
@DogeFrom2014

It should just be the same battery life as a brand new iPod. Though, it depends on the quality and condition of the replacement battery.

Yes you can use the 5th gen battery in the 6th gen, but I don’t recommend that as the 6th gen has a slightly better battery. I usually install a 6th gen battery into the 5th gen, but not the other way around.

@@TheFixTech ooh Alright. Thank you sir for answering my question! 😊😊
I have replaced batteries on 3 different ipods that I own. Every time, the new battery gives me fluctuating charge readings and seems to drain rapidly even when the ipod is not used or is turned off. The fully charged battery will be dead in 24 hours. The 3 batteries I bought were from different battery manufactuers and different sellers. Am I that unlucky that all the batteries were bad?
@fish2010b

I read that the unit may retain the memory of the bad battery. So the advice I read was to drain the battery completely and then recharge. The person said they did this twice and then saw an improvement in the battery performance. It's worth a try.

Hello
I called apple to ask for a replacement battery installation. They told me i could buy a new I phone and they would wave the disposal fee on the old ipod. I said never mind. Then they told me i would have to pay $65 disposal fee for the broken one and I said I'd rather throw it in a river😂. They said that's illegal and they know who I am because of my apple id and would notify the epa police. They said all interactions are recorded and they have evidence I said I'll throw it in a river. What am I supposed to do. I don't have $65 😢
@TheFixTech

Don’t throw it in a river, just keep it in a drawer until you want to fix it. Even if you don’t ever do, you can use it as a paper weight.

Looks like brain surgery to me. Hope I can find a pro. I bought my iPod refurbished and paid good money for it. The battery is crap.
