At 4:00 what you're talking about is lens compression, because the XS's second lens is equivalent to 55mm but the XR's camera is around 28mm, you have to step closer or further to achieve the same composition. The perceived size and shape of the subject in relation to the background is different, with the wide angle having more distortion and more background fitting in

I have the xs max I feel like the camera doesn’t have as much color as the iPhone XR. So if your looking for a phone with more color to it I would recommend the XR.

TechDaily okay. So I got it. I will say for those who were like me, and have been a long time Android user. It was a bit frustrating the first hour, I know I read reviews that people were upset about no home button, although it was noticeable at first and muscle memory kept kicking in hitting the center. And it does get a bit annoying. But I’m getting used to the “drag from the corner up”. The sleekness and overall transitions between apps or texting feel SEAMLESS. My girlfriend got the XR as well she’s always been an Android user herself. Instantly we noticed the sleek seamless feel. She was extremely excited. I’ve never hated on apple I was just always hesitant to get it because of the “non customizable” restrictions you have with Mac. But realistically. I don’t even notice it. And I’m a major geek/nerd when it comes to technology. The camera is amazing, overall I’m very satisfied with my first iPhone. I would recommend the XR to any Android user who is swapping over. It’s taking time to get used too but I was excited to wake up and use it this morning. Oh and also the sound quality and over all color pixels simply “beautiful”

From The Vine we actually both had ZTEs however about 7 months ago I had LG and a Galaxy. I’m loving my XR. It was a big leap going to a IPhone, but I don’t regret it.

I have some pretty good colour differentiation and the XS is obviously more vibrant and adds more highlight but the XR is more dull and sort of natural so it depends if you want a RAW photo that looks more natural I say the R if you want more vibrant photos go with the S

I had the XS Max and my Son has the XR! I liked the max but colors seemed off regardless of changing saturation or contrast! I liked the XR better. I never used the 2x optical zoom. My son was able to take portrait pics of objects on his XR using pro camera! I think its $8. In the app store! Its does waaaaay more than the stock camera app. A big thing i noticed was the XR pics was actually brighter in low light than my XS Max! I was shocked to see that! A few other youtubers had pointed that out so I had to see to believe it and sure enough it was!

I’m mostly focused on slo motion filming for skateboarding so the XR would probably fit my needs best cause I hardly ever take portrait shots. I’m still on a 6s so really either one is a huge upgrade.

The front facing camera on the X r does have stage right and stage light mono. It’s just the rear facing camera that doesn’t have it.

Question - Does the XS actually use the telephoto lens now? On my 7 Plus 80% of the time the camera defaults to a digital zoom when I press the 2x button because the algorithm says a cropped main sensor picture would be better than using a darker telephoto lens. You can test by pressing 2x and testing which lens your finger obstructs as you pass over each lens. If the view is obstructed over the main lens despite being "2x" it means the phone is just using a digital crop.

Good question! I noticed a similar situation on my 7 Plus a while back too. On my XS right now, I’m switching between standard and 2x zoom and the lenses are switching - my finger covers the top in standard, and can cover the bottom in 2x zoom. It’s not perfect, but I would say 8/10 times at least right at this moment, the telephoto lens is in use when I hit 2x.

Can’t believe the xs is £250 more ok very slightly better photos in some cases but not worth anywhere near that much more. Would expect a much higher mp count on dearer one for that money.

XR doesn't have dedicated telephoto lens. It is using Wide (Main) Lens. Portrait on XR usedWide Angle Lens (Main) that's why it is distorted 28mm Wide Focal Length. Xs has dedicated telephoto lens which shoot equivalent of 56mm. Main 28mm x 2 Optical = 56mm Portrait Equivalent

If you are looking for only photos comparison it starts at 6:42, some are before that, you can watch later.

I can see differences between two phones that have almost the exact same camera. I can’t this one

The only difference I’ve found is the black in xs is more black than in the xr photos.. but both are very similar and my broke ass will buy the xr anyways

I want to upgrade my iphone 7 purely because of camera. So I'll go with the Xr. I already have a Exolens Telephoto lense I've been using with my iphone 7 for portrait shots. So I'll us that with the Xr instead of a second camera.

Its just something that happens when the phone is filmed with a camera. You can't see it with your eyes, but through the camera the sensors show that they are blinking/working.
