Going with V30 wide angle. However I believe LG has a lot more work to do with their Camera. I wish their front facing camera was same as the flagship camera.

V-series phones are much more focused on the manual modes. I have the v20 and I haven't used auto mode in at least a month because manual mode is just waaay better

I have the v30 and the front facing camera is horrible. So horrible that it's not even funny and it feels like LG didn't even bother to try with the front facing camera. So I learned to take selfies with the rear camera with the wide angle lens and it works wonderfully.

Brian Moran I have the G5 as well. It has a better front facing camera, at 8MP, than the V20, G6, and the V30. They keep changing the cameras back and forth too often. I mean come on.. (G5 - 16MP Main / 8MP Wide / 8MP Front), (V20 - 16MP Main / 8MP Wide / 5MP Front), (G6 - 13MP Main / 13MP Wide / 5MP Front), (V30 - 16MP Main / 13MP Wide / 5MP Front)... Can we not just have (16MP / 16MP / 8MP or 12MP)? Stop playing with us LG... Lol.

Let's hope, next lg flagship will have better front camera. Im sure it will retain the wide angle lens for rear camera which is awesome anyway!!

I will go for LG-V30 having Best optical image stabilization, Great wide angle, World's first Manual camera control, 4k stereo 3d sound recording, And the Best one - 'PIONT ZOOM' and much more u missed in the video..

Well, considering price and date of release of these smartphones, S8 is still amazing. Yes, IP X shoots a bit better, but costs 2 times more than S8. Also wide angle on V30 seems very well.

I have the LG V30 and it works great so far.

V30 can shoot log, such a “small” detail to miss.

S8 wins in stabilization, iPhone X is obviously shaky as hell. i still like v30 😁

LG V30 is Best

Great comparison of the auto mode! Each phone definitely has their own specialties and downfalls, however, everything changes when manual modes are used. LG and Samsung both offer manual on their phones and it's unfortunate that Apple has not included that in their phones. On that note, I believe that focusing and color correction goes to Samsung, Lens correction and audio goes to LG and clarity and sharpness goes to the iPhone. For daily use, the Samsung or iPhone would be the best bet. However, if you are a content creator, photographer, videographer, etc., I believe that LG is your phone which includes manual photo AND video mode with different cinematic settings and RAW formatting.

I'm overall starting to feel like the LG V30 is the phone for me. I hate that the front camera is only 5mp. Don't know why LG didn't take the front camera seriously on their phone in 2017.

LG V30 underrated 2017 flagship, it's the beast, like for LG and your video

When I got my LG G5 months ago to use as a stopgap phone to replace my broken Nexus 6, I looked at the wide angle lens as some sort of stupid gimmick. Well, after using it, it became the deciding factor for me in my next phone. It's one of the bigger reasons I went with the V30 now.

I got my LG V30 2 weeks ago....and have no regret. After watching all these comparison tests... I'm sure I made the right decision!

Does anyone know why my brand new LGV30 takes worse photos than the LGV10 i had? Does the camera have plastic cover? It's still brand new so i haven't updated the system yet. Maybe updating the system will solve the problem?

an iphone with an ultrawide lens would be amazing. Honestly, i rarely use my 2x telephoto zoom on my 7+. But i'm constantly taking steps back or over extending my arm to get everything in the picture.

Do you know some app for record raw video in 4k in cellphone? Thanks.

In your fast focus test there were differing amounts of light falling on the hand, the V30 being very dark in some of the footage. This will have affected the auto focus speed quite a lot. Try again indoors with the same amount of light on each subject. That would give each camera the same variables.

June Bug I agree. These reviews don't seem to ever talk about audio quality especially when recording loud videos in concert type settings. The LG V30 blows away the Samsung Note 8 and iPhone 8 and X! Samsung and iPhone sound like mono recordings, whereas LG V30 you can hear the separation of sound between Bass response, mid range and highs. I wish they would do an actual side by side comparison of what it sounds like - and you can't judge based on the crappy built in speakers. But whe you listen with in ear monitors or headphones and do a side by side comparison, you can REALLY hear the V30 is a stand out - especially for audiophiles. And I am listening in the standard mode. I haven't activated the other way of listening because I want to hear what everyone else would hear when viewiny videos. I was honestly shocked to hear how much better the LG V30 sounds compared to the iPhones and Samsung Note 8! 😊

Hi guys! I have a really weird problem with my new S8: When connected to my PC, I can not copy any file(or only 1) from my smart phone to my PC, because it will say there is an error. What is weird is the fact that I can put music to my phone, and music is working, but to copy pictures it is not possible. I have tried to debug my phone but the problem did not dissappear. What should I do?

Did you use the mode Cinelog in the v30?

Which is better lg v30+ or lg v40+ in terms of camera and battery.

Great review. Have been an isheep for a long time but the cost of the X is silly especially when you have to purchase the quick charger separately. Have been eyeing the V30 since the pre production reviews and this looks easily the most versatile Android on the market. It’s a shame LG took their time to launch it and at £800 in the UK it’s still very expensive. As soon as this comes down in price and Carphone Warehouse no longer has the monopoly on official sales I will be buying it.

Very nice comparison and the V30 holds it own pretty well. Plus you can change the video settings in real time via manual mode if the software over or under exposes the scene.

hey thanks for this great video. I've been shooting vlogs with the yi action plus 4k and a ziyun gimbol, but i just found the whole setup to be a pain in the butt. I decided to consolidate with either the iphone x, samsung 8, or the v30 coupled with a zhiyun smooth q. You made my choice ez. definitely going with the v30. the audio is awesome, the wide angle takes home the prom queen. too bad about the 720p crappy slow motion :/ . thanks a ton for a great video!

I think this was a unfair review as the s8 only has one camera it should be the note 8 instead of s8 since all the other cameras are dual instead of one

Combine the S8's stabilization and selfie cam quality with the X's zoom and the V30's wide angle lens and you've got the perfect smartphone camera. For a 6 month old single lens camera, the S8 compares well to the new V30 and X. I'm excited to see what upgrades the S9 will have.

I dunno, I love that you're doing this, but it just doesn't feel very controlled at all. I feel like since the tests you used didn't really have consistent conditions from phone to phone, they really cant be used to compare them. But they are all great cameras, and that iPhone has some nice features

Great video, very difficult to decide. I really like the flatness of colors on the S8 and its stabilisation. Hated the audio on iphone and the very intense colors on your face when you shoot portrait!

I think something went wrong with your camera settings on the v30, I've seen slow motions on the v 30 and they are not that bad. I'm pretty sure the S8 has a selective focus option, The S6 had it, and it is comparable to the iPhone X

The S8 has "Selective Focus" which is a lot like portrait mode but it takes about 3 seconds to take the photo.

Why didint you do note 8 vs x vs v30

The Samsung S8+ (plus) has some serious "jello'ing" "jello" issues when video recording. Can you elaborate on that please? thx. Ohh btw; the S8+ sound from the just 'one' on the bottom speaker is terrible. Why does Samsung not use the iPhone dubble setup?

I have the LG V30 and my daughter the iPhone X. Win-Win! 😎 I shoot in LOG and use the manual controls which hand hold you through the process. Try the Pixel 2 Camera APK. Apple and Android also offers FiLMiC Pro. The argument of "stock apps" is nonsense, LMAO you don't buy or download Apps? I'm more interested in finding the limits to what my investment can deliver .. aren't you? The LG V30's selfies are crap, but I'm sick of flipping selfies and food pictures on Instagram. If I want the occasional Portrait then I'll either flip my phone to its best camera or let my family take a picture.

Not fair to use wideangle lens for the slowmo on the V30..... Both others are using their standard lens....

V30 especially since Cine Video wasn't even considered because the other two devices don't offer it. Bummer. It's the main feature they advertise about the rear facing camera.

I'd rather have 1 really really good sensor. I can add a wide angle or telephoto lens. Moment makes some really good lenses. just personal opinion. I like how the Google pixel 2 does it. Focused on one really good camera.

Any flagship camera test has to have the Pixels in them. I think it's fair to say most would peg those phones as the gold standard for cameras right now

Features of the LG V30 here is just the tip of the iceberg, this phone's a beast if you maximize the potential of the back camera. Cinelog for video + hi-fi dac for audio which he didn't even use in this comparison. V30 wins hands down 😎

I choose iPhone X, looks awesome on my XPS 15 4K screen.

Wide angle is best. You don't need telephoto and bokeh can be done with software like the pixel. So they can keep the normal camera that can do bokeh and have wide angle. No need for 3 cameras.

Anshul Singh I don't know about any app. With the V30 if you go close enough and click on the the item you want to focus on, the background is blurred automatically.
