As an iPhone fan, i have to tell that Pixel has the best camera. I admit this.

Pixel 2 xl 🔥

After the first 5 photos I can already see the iPhone tends to overexpose a lot, compared to the Pixel 2, which has better HDR.

The pixel 2 XL gets the win yet another year. Google is doing an amazing job with computational photography based on machine learning /deep learning (yes, I'm a nerdy computer vision master student...).

Pixel way better, way better dynamic range, colors, white balance and video stabilisation is from another world.

Think Pixel 2XL is more detail camera

Both great phones with the Pixel 2XL pulling slightly ahead. The iPhone X video very impressive with smoother slow motion and sharper images. The 2XL much better at producing true to life images. Ultimately, you can't go wrong with either. Fantastic video 👍

KVN note 8 and all Samsung products are garbage. Pixel 2 is next level. Software>Hardware. It's that simple.

I prefer the Pixel 2 xl....Hands down...

Both are doing well but as you said "iPhone has had portrait mode for 2 years now" the pixel 2 xl in my opinion as a photographer would be the device I would want in my pocket if I didn't have my DSLR with me constantly. Pixel 2 is the overall winner. Great colours, dynamic range, sharpness and all this with a single camera. Well done Google and well done Danny. Thanks for the share and great job.

The new Pixels are on a whole different level in terms of camera performance. And to think it's mainly software magic. Can't wait for the Pixels Core to be enabled. Wondering if that would further enhance what is already a very impressive camera.

Is it possible to implement portrait mode feature in older smartphones with PDAF camera?

The pixel 2 sounds better and the pictures looks sharp, hands down the best camera I've seen on a smartphone.

XeniX The Gamer literally only sounds good when there is absolutely no background noise. The second there’s any, the Pixel applies a poor attempt at background noise reduction and it sounds awful.

The audio is horrible. Blocks out way too much background noise and makes the voice way too dense and tinny at the same time

Excellent comparison for the most parts but like every other comparison I've seen it completely glosses over the wide-color capture on the iPhone, which makes the colors look much better than any other phone when looking at the images on a native wide-color display like on the iPhone or the Macs. It's a small advantage, considering the lack of widespread wide-color displays and software but it's an advantage worth mentioning anyway.

Where are you taking these pics? Place looks amazing and like a place I need to visit.

Thanks for the video. Looking at it on my laptop I have to prefer most of the iPhoneX images. Yes, as you say, in low light some of the detail is blown out compared to the Pixel but again in general I prefer the colour balance of the Apple. Just goes to show how much preferences matter!

The EQ on the Pixel audio seems to be really treble heavy to the point where it sounds harsh.

Videos like this reassure me that I should get the Pixel 2 XL. Great job, videos like this no matter what iPhone is being compared usually give all the glory to Apple. Glad to see a video like yours that is strictly Apple fan based.

Wow pixel 2xl crush the iPhone 10. iPhone 10 over expose every single show in daylight in the area where the highlight are. Yeah the image looks punchier and more over saturatd , which is an other issue, there is no details, and you can't even recover it from the blown out area . Pixel just have way more information and details with more realistic color. You can always bring up saturation and contrast if you want in the post, but once the information is lost, it lost. I don't think I need to say anything about the lowlights photos, the results looks like the iPhone 10 is from 3 years ago. No competition here.

+UFCMMA93 Yeah for sure. It’s unreal on some shots.

I belive the blown-out stuff is the camera "misinterpreting the situation" based on the chosen focus point. That is easily fixed by choosing the focus point manually. You can see it on the face that it is underexposed compared to the Pixel. That being said, I like what the Pixel does with the sharpness. When it does not overdo it, it does great. I need better equipment to have a verdict on the audio, but one thing that comes to mind is that louder sound often mean more compressed sound. Lower sound can mean more information is actually there. I would like to know the specs of the audio codecs used (I might need to check on that).

Nice comparison Danny . both do a good job , and i would probably give the pixel an extra point maybe (not a lot in it though ) , but other flagships are pretty good too in camera , so for me i would pick one with a headphone jack and an sd card and manual controls ;) .

Great comparison! Probably the best of the ones I have seen between these 2 phones. Would love to see the Note 8 compared to the iPhone X, as I am considering the iPhone X, Note 8, and Pixel 2 XL for purchase.

Pixel 2 XL got an excellent win for camera, and I also feel like it sounded clearer in the sound test.

What about the zoom quality of pixel ?

Danny you do fabulous camera tests wow thanks for your hard work. I think they are both great like you said you can’t go wrong with either one. Some shots the iPhone looks better and then some shots the google pixel looks better. But wow hats 🎩 off to google for making a fabulous camera with just one lens. It keeps up and even passes the iPhone with dual lens. Well done!

The winner is as expected , but many will disagree Google's choice of more natural colours for its photos

I think in daylight shots Pixel 2 XL looks a bit darker thus loosing dark details but in the night time shots iPhone burns lighter details. It is a matter of details.

Pixel 2 is the winner for me as it has more details in most pictures compared to the iphone x

Already the Pixel XL2 results look jaw dropping. Except for night time video. Still, I wonder what the "Pixel Visual Core" chip will bring once it is enabled. It could be a bit of a game changer.

Why oh why did Google have to go with that POLED? Its such a glaring flaw compared to the incredible camera and performant phone. Choices, choices, choices. 😞 As usual, a great video Danny. Thank you.
