    Good video, but just to clarify, wireless charging is actually worse for your battery because it is thermally inefficient and generates more heat than wired charging. Heat is bad for batteries.

    Hey thanks for the comment! Yeah, I learned that stipulation more clearly after this video. That said, as far as I understand wired fast charging, in particular, can lead to the same heating issues. (Help me out if that’s wrong tho) So sometimes it’s just being aware of your phone temperature and making sure you aren’t using your phone too much while it’s charging. I’m hopeful that wireless charging will be more safe and efficient as time goes on. I know my apple magsafe charger is pretty good at keep temperatures low, I imagine any Made for Magsafe certified devices could do the same. Or maybe apple’s iOS is what’s doing that work too. The wireless charger I use now (not in this video) has a fan that actively cools the phone as it’s charging on magsafe to keep temperature at a safe level. It’s the ESR Halo lock 3in1: amzn.to/3MBk8Wn

    While I've learned better since this video, wireless charging isn't necessarily bad for battery health, it's the heat produced by some poor wireless chargers. Heat from fast charging is just as harmful to battery health. So it's best to just be mindful of how warm your phone is getting while charging regardless of the method. Thanks for calling it out tho!

    So it’s a bit complicated but generally speaking yes, so as long as your wireless charger isn’t heating up like yours is, wireless should be. Or any form of charging that doesn’t heat up your phone. Some wireless chargers that try to compete with the speed of plug in charging speeds are more likely to heat up. So this has been called out often since I made this video over a year ago. Main thing I compare it to is fast charging which can over heat your phone just as much as certain wireless chargers can. It’s best to avoid heat at all costs so regardless of how you’re charging just make sure your phone doesn’t get too hot and you can save some battery life.

    "Wireless charging is better for battery health" Bro where do you get your information from?? The only plus wireless charging has over conventional wired charging is convenience, and minimizing of the charging prot wear and tear (which is negligible). Wired charging is superior in every way to wireless charging, it's cheeper form the start to the end too.

  • @ardentlytech

    @ardentlytech

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Vidura, thanks for calling it out. I've learned a lot of info since making this video from other comments like yours as well as other creators' videos. But first, I don't think the 'only' plus to wireless charging is convenience, cause arguable it's not as convenient if you need to use your phone and keep it charged. As for where my info came from initially; I admittedly did not use wireless charging till magsafe became available and I got the magsafe charger from Apple. That said, I was told then that magsafe charging was better for battery health than my fast charger because of the heat it could produce. So that is the basis of my claims, but I've learned that not all wireless charging is equal and that even though my magsafe charger does a decent job in protecting from overheating (I think part of that is software), normal and cheaper wireless chargers can cause similar heating issues as fast charging. That said avoiding heating up your battery seems to be the best way to help your battery health.
