Great, thank you so much!! Found a $17 screen on ebay and with your tutorial, I was back up a running a week after my dog chewed my screen. Took about 1.25hrs to fix, but I didn't bother with the water proofing and taping, well, because my cheap kit didn't have any of that. Thanks!!

Hello, I recently did this but didn’t put any tape on, my screen is noticeably unresponsive a lot of the time when typing, (for example this took twice as long to type as I needed to press the keys down for longer for the display to recognise I was touching the keys) and I have a hard time trying to swipe the control panel up, it seems like the bottom quarter of my screen is much worse than the rest, can someone explain this? I’ve heard something about grounding but im not sure what that us exactly?

This video is great. Too bad I’m a clumsy idiot. I was repairing the phone, did everything perfectly. No complications putting on the screen or taking out the Touch ID. I plugged in the flex cables and went to test the screen, plugged in the phone to the charger, and when I turned to grab something, my foot got caught on the charger and ripped the phone off the desk. Two of the flex cables snapped. I have to buy another new screen now.

@@C.Dynamo A display assembly costs less than $25 shipped. But the home button color is unchanged if you want to keep TouchID -- only the original button supports TouchID. Also, aftermarket displays don't support TrueTone unless you also have access to the original display AND own a reprogrammer (but 1. any half decent shop should be able to lend you a programmer, or do it for you, and 2. truetone is useless imo)

I was able to replace my screen but when I try to use my Touch ID on the home button, the display on the screen shakes up and down and doesn't recognize my fingerprint. Is there a step I did wrong or forgot to do. (The home button works if I just press it) Thanks for the informative video.

@@RealWorldReview There are people who can repair them. Depends on where it broke. People have successfully repaired snapped ribbons 100%..probably for a lot less than Apple charge for a new screen assembly too! Lol.

Sounds like it was plugged in with the battery plugged in. Sounds like something shorted out. If that's not the case, then there might be some damage to that cable or some liquid damage. Although it could be anything really

why do you use the sticky tape in that bit? I didn't use that and my screen was fine for a day or two then started having a mind of its own and randomly tapping uncontrollably-is this a bad connection, bad screen or the sticky tape issue?

  • @RealWorldReview

Sounds like a defective screen. The tape is for super aftermarket screens that have grounding issues. Most companies fixed it, but some are still cheap. Try to return the part
