I still use my SE every day. I love the size. It fits in my pocket nicely. I have a drawer full of them and they’re so easy to fix. I put all the guts into a black iphone 5 housing so I now have an iPhone that Apple never made: a black slate SE. It’s reliable and works great for me. I don’t like big phones.

@Sickened-KZread it’s not very good, depending on how much you use your phone? It likely won’t last a day without a recharge. That’s because it has a small battery.

using my SE every day. i disabled all the privacy settings and moved low power mode to the wigit home page and by using the smart battery charging limit i can usually keep it from reverting to normal power mode most days. after turning off all the location spying and data privacy settings, I get about 13-15% battery degradation per day with it on standby and usually only charge every 2 or 3 days with moderate/light use, maybe 3-6 hrs of screen on time per day. yeah people dont realize how well you can max out the battery life. i dont notice any decrease in performance with like multi task turned off and stuff

This iPhone SE version didnt have Optical Image Stabilisation (much like the 6s it shared many internal specs with but the 6s plus did have OIS), it did use Electronic Image Stabilisation which helps but is not as good as true optical stabilisation. Great Video, I have had two SE 2016's and use one regularly as a backup device, good to see it getting some love.

To be frankly honest, I would say yes to the title of the video. The refurbished 1st generation iPhone SE goes for around $100. A standard refurbished iPhone 12 goes for a whopping $200 more above the $100 (≈$300). A iPhone SE on the Apple website currently costs a whopping $329 more than a 1st generation SE. If you can get the 2016 iPhone SE at a decent price then I would absolutely recommend you to purchase it even in 2024. Couple hundred bucks can still be a significant sum of money for many people. Apple devices these days are getting more timeless so hopefully one day I get to see a iPhone that gets 25 years of iOS updates. This year, I bought a 2018 Apple device.

I totally agree dude. My iPhone 12 broke and shattered. Had an original SE in my drawer never sold it. Good condition. Updated the software. I used to switch out my sim just to have a smaller device. The SE saved my life basically. Not cheap by any means. But also, I am a low key user. No gameplay, no social media, etc. so the phone works fine! Calls, messaging, emails, etc. You are correct Apple devices last. It got a security update December 2023.

I have not daily driven an original SE, but I would assume it would get you through the day. Depending on how heavily you use it. If your budget allows, I would actually recommend getting the iPhone SE 2. It has better battery life, more powerful and efficient processing, much better camera, and a slightly bigger and higher resolution screen (But still a small screen). which will get you through the day, and still be functional for modern applications. I currently use an SE 2.
