Great video man . I feel like the 7 plus was a huge leap from prior iPhones . I don’t think we’ve seen a leap so big since from iPhone to iPhone . The 7 plus still holds up nice even now. I have a 10 and a 7 plus and honestly not a big difference . Do you think it’s worth upgrading from a 10 to a 13 or should I just wait ?

Hello thanks for the video im into toy photography for 2 years and ive been using iphone 7+ portrait mode as my camera and I upgraded to the regular iphone 13 recently and Ive noticed that the 13 portrait mode is not as good as the 7+ especially if your subject is 12 inches smaller specifically toy figures, im guessing that iphone 13 portrait mode only works well if your subject is bigger.

It’s because the 7plus has a tele and the normal 13 doesn’t. Buy a 11pro/12/13 pro not the normal ones. The pro is an upgrade for the plus devices and not the normal ones

That's the thing about new phones is they're boosted to be newbie friendly.

Gemini Photos sounds like a great tool. Unfortunately it is not available in the Canadian Mac Store. Do you have any other suggestions for Canadians?

Gemini Photos is an iPhone app, so it's only available in the iOS App Store. It is definitely available for Canadians, the link in the description should work for you. But if you're looking for a similar app for a Mac computer, you might want to check out Gemini 2: macpaw.com/gemini. It works somewhat differently, but it can find duplicate photos on your computer.

Thanks for this comparison. I've got an iPhone 7+. The real issue is that if you're using it for anything but photos it's painful (mainly due to 2Gb of RAM in 7+ vs. 6GB in 13 Pro). Multiple apps are struggling. It keeps unloading everything if you're switching between apps and have to wait for reloading. Chrome is slow on websites with more dynamic content and recently started crashing for me. iOS keeps killing some apps trying to run in the background when the actively used app is heavy on RAM usage. I've been actively using Evernote, and it got to the point when even typing using their customer keyboard is so slow it defeats the purpose due to how annoying the process becomes. Even unlocking and starting the camera app is slower since the iOS upgrades, which is not great if you want to capture some random moment. Besides, worth comparing the photos in night mode when the lighting conditions are more challenging. Defo time for an upgrade!

Thanks for your comment! In this video, we only aimed to compare the cameras, and of course you're making a valid point that other tech specs may start to feel outdated.

The 7+ has 3GB RAM. I own one and don't experience anywhere near this level of pain, though I wouldn't use Chrome if you paid me. I'd check your battery is still supporting peak performance. A depleted battery cannot hit the same max voltages so usage spikes can crash the device. I'd also make sure you have some spare storage too, as being super low can also affect performance. All that said, the 12 and 13 are much better phones, and your 7 has put in good a good shift!

Awesome!!! Thank you for this review. It was just what I needed. I’m getting ready to upgrade from a 7plus. I was considering the 13 pro max but I’ve been told that the 12 pro max has a better camera.

The 12 will feel like a huge upgrade, but I can't imagine how someone would say the 12 is better than the 13. It may be pretty close and worth saving the cash if you don't also want the better battery life, 120Hz screen etc, but it's definitely not better.
