Everyone else says that the phone is better, but Dave shows exactly how much better it's at doing X; for example, how much better exactly the phone is at dealing with pictures at night, what the difference in peak brightness actually means if I'm going to use the phone, etc

Thank you for shedding light on the fact that these phones are not affordable in any way for a lot of people. I feel like people making reviews often overlook this and make it seem like the new flagship phones are THE phones to get and that everyone should have them.

I agree with you! I don't want to point fingers, but I just watched Unbox Therapy's video and he just glossed over the $200 price difference between the 14 and the 14 Pro. That 200 dollar is essentially another extra month of work for the middle-class person from my country.

Because other countries add VAT to everything. Not to mention. When the Government sue\fine Apple to do things the Government wants Apple to do. They pass that cost onto the consumers. Just how it is.

This guy is clever. He begins the video appreciating all the small things that went into the phone then I look up and can't help but notice the Blink 182 song All The Small Things displayed on the Dynamic Island. This guys attention to detail and appreciation for "all the small things" is very much appreciated.

Always love and have the patience to wait for Dave’s reviews - no extra ads sponsors or catchphrases, just simple and to the point, also I think Dave’s reviews are just another example of how Apple’s later comer advantage can be justified. Even though they’re always one or two days later than other generic reviews, they always tend to skip the basics to straight on spot more details and hard-to-notice things that really matter. Thanks for another great review!

Dave feels much more like a tech reviewer/enthusiast in the KZread tech space and gives actual feedback how on using the phone is, how it performs with insightful feedback. A lot of other KZreadrs are now glorified journalists and just regurgitate what we can easily read for ourselves on Apple’s website

Another fantastic review. Love the fact that reviews are well produced, but remain pretty simple and without gimmicks.

Man I remember when we were in the iOS beta test program I sent feedback to Apple calling the drop shadows as a bug , because as you said all previous versions of iOS used to change the font to black when lighter wallpapers were used , it sucks that it was a delivered decision.

@@tonyburzio4107 Not only taxes, if you factor VAT and exchange rates it's still more expensive in Europe. My personal take is that Apple devices are more niche products in Europe than in the US, since Europeans are more used to Android (even in flagships). Thus, if your European buyers are mostly Apple enthusiasts it makes sense for Apple to overcharge them, rather than trying to be more competitive in pricing.

So many reviews of the iPhone 14 pro and this is by far the most comprehensive and concise, straight to the point no BS review. Keep up the great work Dave. P.S. Loved the new animations and naming of retina river & promotion ocean :P

I cant stress how much I love Dave's Review, Concise and straight to the point. Not just talking about specs but highlighting on whats new and just what you need to know. PERFECTION 👌👌

Solid review! You touched on things few thought about.

The island is really fun and has had some surprisingly helpful moments. What I do not love is how many apps haven’t yet accounted for the lower punch out and text etc in videos is now cut off. Games also don’t yet allow you to access the high refresh capability of the phone yet, either (specifically in the case of Wild Rift). The night photos, assuming you hold still, have been unbelievably good. Looking like you weren’t even shooting at night in some cases.

The graphics and puns around the island are next level!!! The attention to detail in your editing never ceases to amaze me. And the information and even theories (read the 'white text over bright background' which also seemed to me like an odd choice)... the information and reviews are always extensive and spot on.

Dave's videos are the absolute best ! More detail, information, and insight than other videos 4x as long. I normally skip the first 1/3 of all videos because it's useless filler. Dave doesn't waste your precious time and just gets into the content.

Dave, your reviews are always awesome and always there is something different to know

Great review, just wondering how you are able to modify lock screen widgets at the bottom of the screen or was it just a wallpaper?

Best review I’ve seen on the 14 Pros yet, thanks Dave. I love the included gaming performance / stats with battery life / thermals. Just what I was looking for.

The thing with the light text on light backgrounds on the homescreen on iOS 16 is definitely a bug. Because if you look the status bar it is also white with no shadows (and its basically impossible to see). If you remove your wallpaper and set it again (sometimes you have to do this a couple times) it will usually fix. It seems like the code apple uses to detect if you are using a light/dark wallpaper is broken.

There’s another contrast bug with the Lock Screen. If you choose a darkish font over a medium background (e.g. sort of similar colors that blend well, but text stands out enough to be visible), and then you pull down the notification menu in horizontal view, it changes the background to gray and darkens the text color. And contrast gets really bad. Really weird, apple is normally decent at accessibility!

The prices are insane, in Poland the 14 Pro went up significantly in price, but after the launch 13 Pro went up also! Crazy... I wouldn't buy this phone either but man... It's also interesting that the new apple watch ultra is basically the same price as the Iphone 14, but it's actually much cheaper in our country. Makes no sense.

Really useful review, exceptionally useful! I’m going to be watching yours in the future. It’s very cleanly done and just homes right in on the most interesting and important differences in performance. I like seeing that beautiful CN Tower. I lived in gorgeous Toronto for a short time in the mid 70s, leaving there just over 45 years ago. The CN Tower and IMAX were quite new.

Liked the details in your review! I didn't know about the light app text and nice that you have included a price comparison at the end because many (American) reviewers often do not mention that the iPhones have become way more expensive in some countries (also in Europe).

Dave should have double the amount of subscribers. It's consistently one of the best tech reviewers. All those other reviewers simply regurgitated what's on the marketing brochure. Dave actually spends time to review the product from a user's point of view.

Glad someone finally mentioned the text shadows on the app text, can always count on you Dave! But yea, I HATE IT. Even went in to accessibility hoping there was an option to turn that off. Here's an idea: let us choose the color of the text ourselves, or make it match a color from the BG or something. Either way, I know it's not a huge deal but it's honestly my biggest disappointment from iOS 16.

The vintage map style animated description of the island alone makes this my favorite iPhone 14 review. Appreciate the efforts you put in these reviews. Brief, informative and right on point. Switching to Apple for the first time with 14 Pro Max after being on android since it's inception around 2008/9. Looking forward to it 🤞🍏 PS : would've liked to hear something about the speakers. Unless they're exactly the same as before which would explain the omission.

The white background text will work with future hardware changes. Always on display will transition into an always on camera. Allowing them to render the transparent phone effect seen in sci-fi.

Bro, I agree. Like when he mentions how that dynamic island is far less intrusive.. I get that. Like honestly having to pull down that notification menu just to check what alert you got even though it’s a minimal action, does subconsciously interrupt the flow of whatever app you were in. And that’s not even including tapping on a notification like Ring to see camera footage or something which then *has* to pull you from one app into a completely new one. I can see this island feature if developers choose to roll with it and expand it really becoming a software game-changer permanently!

yes MKBHD's production is crispy and high-end but Dave has the best aesthetic of his own. my two favorite KZreadrs!!!

I used to use the iPhone 6S 3D Touchable fish wallpaper on my iPhone XS Max, and when iOS borked the old 3D Touch functionality, I switched to a static black home and lock screen in memoriam, as well as to preserve battery and to heighten contrast. I expect to keep it as I get this new phone, so I’m soaking up all the hints of color shown in reviewers’ AODs as the last of that feature I will see.

Your reviews consistently offer something more that others do not. I appreciate you always going over everything in such great depth. The conclusion hit the mark brilliantly. The iPhone 14 Max Pro was made for individuals who can afford to spend that much money on a phone. That's too much money to be waste.

Thanks for that part in the end. I live in egypt and although I am lucky to be part of a relatively rich family it is still sad to see people spending 4 months salary and even more for iPhones. They dont do it for the product quality but its like the key for people to see you as high class.

I got the 14 Pro in Space Black after being on android for 3 years. Love it. iPhones are more fun than 3 years ago. This phone is crazy. It's a cut above in quality and user experience compared to all of the other phones I've used.

You liked being able to use affordable wired headphones? Nah, buy an easy to lose/break adapter or buy wireless headphones that are easily 5x the price of the wired headphones you had before. You liked having a physical sim card? Nah, lets switch to eSim only which sometimes costs significantly more than a plan with a physical sim depending on your territory
