It’s not an arbitrary decision. The Ai features will need a minimum of 8gb of ram. iOS has been, so far, very ram optimized and the ai craze caught up to Apple unexpectedly so they didn’t prepare old iPhones for this. There was never a need, iOS wise, for anything over 6gb RAM until now.

Now there is a feature that apple couldnt optimize enough to stay in 6 gigs of rams but they still got it in 8. If they wanted to sell new products they wouldn’t have made the m1 get apple intelligence but after almost 5 years it will still get it for having 8 gigs of rams but

I have both. Upgrade from 11 to 15 two weeks ago. And maaannn! Battery life has in 15 is insane! 8 hrs sot and still got 20% at the end of the day. Wow.

im still on the 11 and the battery is getting rough, when i use it outside it drains about 5% every 10 minutes. waiting for the 16s to decide if i will get the 16+ or the discounted 15+

I’m sure that as the newer betas get released and they optimize more for the older phones they’ll be buttery smooth by September.

@@F4R3S_GG In my case I had no problems, I had to reset the phone but then everything went smoothly. Anyway there aren't too many new features so it's not worth it

I don’t care about AI I’m sick of Apple locking out features. If a device gets ios18 it should get all the features. There is no reason my iPhone 14 Pro Max can’t run Apple intelligence.

I got both of these phones and I have to say my iPhone 11 is performing better than my 15 with 80% battery health and my iPhone 11 just chugs on iOS 18

There was a time when apple used to add new features to it very old phones and make them feel relevant which was my reason for switching to apple. Guess it’s bye bye to apple from me after 10 years of being an apple user if the 15 doesn’t get all or at least most of the features.

Choppy? It's normal because still BETA. I've encounter control center choppy on ios 17 first patch, and then i try to upgrade to 17.1.2 it's back to normal, not choppy control center again on ip 11

XS-11 isn't going to be worth upgrading to 18. Unless they patch certain aspects of it and make it more system resource friendly for the lower spec phones.

probably you never used an iphone or a flagship samsung either. I use iphone 11, my friend has samsung galaxy s22 snapdragon version. The 120hz screen still doesn’t feel as smooth as the 11’s animations and such. might sound biased towards the samsung but that’s what I felt while using the samsung s22. I was planning to buy a s23 but after that I lost interest. On the other hand another friend’s s23 ultra felt so smooth. So don’t just say base model samsungs are better than equivalent iphones🙂‍↔️
