Yes Ip Man did train Bruce Lee. He was one of his students. This man is a legend.
Clicked so fast. I remember randomly watching this in my dorm over 10 years ago now, not knowing anything about it. Now it's one of my favorite movies and the history is fascinating. The sequels are good too. 💕

@@naeemislam1105 Maybe the 2nd or 3rd. I'll have to rewatch the later ones sometime since I've definitely watched the first 2 movies the most lol. The first movie is still my favorite overall.

Donnie Yen actually got to take personal Wing Chun lessons with Ip Mans son Ip Chun (back in 2008 at age 82) before the fight filming started! Ip Chun is actually still alive and teaching, currently in Hong Kong at the age of 99 years old! June 13th, 2024.
If you keep watching the rest of the movies. Youll get to see him fight Mike Tyson
In Hong Kong action films, the stuntpersons ARE the actors, and vice versa. You'll notice that Donnie Yen or Jackie Chan will use many of the same actors in multiple movies, as they were part of their stunt teams.
Since you asked, I've seen this movie at least twenty times - the sequels are good too.
All of them did do their own stunts because all of them were martial artists before they were actors.
Donnie Yen fame came with Iron Monkey in 94 but since he tried to do American films in the late 90s and early 2000s, the splash was unsuccessful, he returned to Hong Kong to do Hero, Kill Zone and Flashpoint which he was a household name in China by then. Only IP Man brought the US attention back on him...
That guy "Xing Yu" is in kung fu Hustle
The Grandmasters...Tony Leung, Brst martial art film if the last 25 years
All four of the Ip Man movies are fantastic, I'm glad that you're checking these out. Also, take a look at Ong Bak, there are three in that series, The Raid movies, The Night Comes for Us (one of my personal favorites), Headshot, and Kill Zone, just to name a few. All proven and great movies and you will not be disappointed in any of them. Also, if you like the movies that are more historic based, House of Flying Daggers, Hero and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon some great ones to check out. And if you like a more modern movie, I have always loved the Undisputed movies, more MMA based but still fun to watch.
Oh you gotta check out some of Donnie’s other films outside Ip Man franchise. I recommend Flash Point, SPL: Kill Zone, Raging Fire and Hero with him and Jet Li
Good movie series with Donnie Yen. I would also recommend Rise of a Legend, Fearless & Fist of Legend that star Jet Li. Of course, can't leave out Enter the Dragon.
Started wing chun back when I first saw this movie back when it came out. Googled my area and there was a guy a mile away teaching.. Been training ever since.
Another great movie you may have missed.... " ung bok" Tony Ja 🔥

This is one of the best modern martial arts films toomey out in years, imo.
23:53 Bro learnt Cantonese way faster than I expected
"You're not useless, bro. You're just one person." I really like how you said that. I need to post that up on my wall.
I recommend Hero, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, and the Reign of Assassins.
I just watch it two nights ago top 10 of my fav movie
I love this movie, its fighting scenes are simply impressive.
13:08 The feather duster dude is getting beat with is something moms at the time would use on the butts of disobedient children. Using that was a huge disrespect.
“… (slow clap) W-wife. W-wife… because she hold… she holdin’ on right now, bro. She might just come and flick you on the forehead, gang.” -A wise fella Many thanks for the laughs and the reaction, bromigo. Always entertaining and pretty funny. Keep on keeping on and Gritos from Tejas. “ *OPEN THE GATE* !!!” -Master Ip P.S. haven’t seen too many suggestions or reactions all together for the movie Lion tiger gate w/Donnie Yen. Comic adaptation. Pretty good. Next time.
Ok so just to be clear revolvers back then used to be able to take the whole cylinder out but I do love the idea of ip breaking a whole revolver just to disarm an officer
He also starred in Star Wars: Rogue One.
I recommend the Martial arts movie called ‘Fearless’ And Hero.
You gotta do all the movies. Loved your reaction to the one of the most kung fu movies all time.
The 36th Chamber Of Shaolin. Just trust my Odin. One of his favorites The whole thing, is surreal, like a martial arts dream. The can’t make films like that anymore. And for modern, Everything by Takashi Miike Including 13 Assassins & Blade Of The Immortal. 🙏
3:32, i heard you said it, then looked it up. and it turns out that elder brother IS in kung fu hustle, Yanneng Shi, the coolie at the beginning. and he is also in another stephen chow's kung fu movie, adapted from that ancient chinese myth monkey king's story, Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons. some people think this movie is very random, i found it amusing and even deep sometimes unexpectedly. and i found youtube has full movie with english sub, title as Journey to the west (2013) Full movie English sub, 1:48:25.
I think he became famous for Iron Monkey and the original movie Wing Chun back in the 90s
People like to leave the Bruce Lee fact as a cool surprise for the viewer
Yeah, Ip man was the master of Bruce Lee. Also, I genuinely can't see why the Chinese and Japanese hated each other so much.
My favorite reactor reacting to my favorite movie❤
The thug tried to insult Wing Chun style fighting (what Ip Man used) in his comment that he heard it was invented by a woman... but it WAS, according to a couple legends, including the one espoused by Ip Man himself, invented by a woman... and Ip Man was very effective with it. The absolute origin of Wing Chun is a bit of a mystery, but according to a couple of legends, it was invented by a Shaolin nun named Ng Mui as an abbreviated self-defense skillset she taught to Yim Wing-Chun to defend herself against a warlord who was trying to force her into marriage. So I imagine the Ip Man of that scene would have been thinking "yes, and?"
Keep watching the full series please, Learn the history of how bruce lee became a god.. And the generations of influence of IP Man

Bruh, Just went from boy band singer type of thumbnails to still looking like part of that boy band & into a martial artist right after this movie reaction. Let me look pretty, while I kick & whoop you're ass boiiii! Aha.

Damn. Your video transitions and positioning is throwing me off.
It’s really hard to find KZreadrs that not only react to martial art movies but to good ones! But found watching your reaction to such an epic movie was very disappointing!! You do what a lot of KZreadrs mistakenly do!! You try to give your thoughts after every frame, after every few words, or after one sentence, instead of watching a little more then give reactions!!! And one of the biggest mistakes is you stop watching the movie and turn your head away from the movie ti talk about reactions…..for some reason like we need eye contact from you while you give your takes?!! And while you do this you miss some great action screen
Jackie Chan is a master of like 12 disciplines. There is no one touching him
Anti Japanese jingoistic stories have been passe since the 1940s

If you want to get your film released in mainland China you have to play the game. Everything out of Hong Kong has to go through the censors in China. The real life Ip Man moved to Hong Kong in 1949 to escape not the Japanese, but the Chinese Communists. WW2 had been over for nearly five years by that point.
Watch…SPL: Sha Po Lang (Known as Kill Zone in the US), Once Upon a Time in China II, Flash Point, and Hero
FYI, they used wires in this film.
👍👍👍
3:28 That is him. He was Coolie.
