The 41 pts against a top ranked undefeated South Carolina in the semi-finals is wild enough. But seemed like anytime SC got the lead or hit a big basket, she’d answer right back with a well contested dagger 3. And those assists out of the pick and roll, and the perfectly placed full court outlet passes? Clark seemed directly involved in like 70 out of their 77 points. Honestly one of the best all around basketball performances I’ve seen - period.

What a catch-22 for South Carolina.. Guard Clark with a single player and she hits a three or drives to the basket. Double team her off the screen and she passes it right under your nose for an easy layup. Huge props to the Iowa coaching staff for taking advantage of all the attention on Clark. That pick and roll was working to perfection!

Watching the last 2 seasons, the pick and roll of Monica and Caitlin has been on display for so many games. Glad the country is seeing what these two do better than any players in the country, men and women. A textbook teaching of how it is done. Of course it takes great hands and belief the ball will be placed perfectly to keep your roll smooth and in step sync to the basket. Monica never dribbles because the ball is put in the perfect spot for a one two step and then the soft layup. She hardly misses. Shoots close to 70%.

I went to Auburn, and when I was there the women's team were 2nd in the NCAA 4 out of 5 years. I played pickup with them women a lot, and I have good skills. I am a 6'4" guy (played DIII basketball), and on Auburn women's team I could have started at shooting guard or small forward. I would've gotten CRUSHED inside, as center or power forward, as I am WAY too small. Even though their team was great, they had NO ONE who was even close in ability to Caitlin...NOWHERE close. She moves smoothly and effortlessly with the ball, and has the vision and passing ability like an NFL quarterback...AMAZING long-ball passes. Her long-distance skills were WAY better than most guys playing college basketball. The only guy I saw in person/played against (pickup) who could shoot more long distance, easily, was Chuck Persons. She could've started at shooting guard to the vast majority of guy's teams in today's college basketball (counting ALL the 4 year colleges, not just DI). She would be too slow to play point guard, and too small for small forward, but her shooting and passing is the key for the shooting guard position. We used to watch SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), who was DIII. They had a girl as backup point guard, as they had no women's team (brand new school). Caitlin could've started at point guard, shooting guard or small forward for them, and they would've won a ton more games. When I played DIII, we played at GA Tech and lost by 4...we led almost the whole game. If Caitlin played for us, as shooting guard, we would have won, EASILY, and that is true even though there was no 3 point line (and no shot clock). Two of my grandparents were from Iowa (my parents went to Iowa State), and my Michigan grandparent went to Iowa, where his uncle was Professor of Physics at Iowa. He did field events for Iowa Track and Field and qualified for the US Olympic Trials, but didn't have the money to get there by train, so couldn't go. I also used to know the Iowa VB coach. Good to see Iowa showcased...

Dawn Staley got severely exposed by being out coached, there's Juco coaches out here who would of made the necessary adjustments with that huge lineup and destroyed Iowa. Dawn Staley had no clue on what to do,1st off why are you not taking the ball out of Caitlyn's hands with constant double teams instead of playing man. Carolina acts as if they did no scouting of Caitlyn cause if they did they would have forced her to her left where she's not effective. Then Dawn Staley is so simple minded that Iowa had 5 players guarding in the paint to stop the post players, and Staley consistently tried to force the ball into the bigs. Just plan assinine to the point she was yelling at her guards who were not covered at all, to force the ball into the paint and not to dare think about taking those open jumpshots. Even when the freshman guard hit a few 3 pointers on her on doing, you see Staley yelling at her on the next possession to pass the ball into the post instead shooting the open jumper. Dawn Staley and South Carolina won all those games by having a huge lineup not because of Staley's weak coaching efforts.

Clark is a very good and exciting player and I do not plan to miss her performance against LSU. However, all players have weaknesses. Clark's weakness is going to her left. About 85 or 90% of the time that she is forced to the left she passes. SC allowed her to go to her right and gave up several layups to her because of Clark's quickness. Actually, her 3 point shooting was not stellar in this game. I am surprised that Staley did not bring that to the attention of her players.

They’ll beat Iowa and win the championship this year, but they should’ve last season. I watched the game last year & some of those “fouls” on SC were ridiculous, Boston was bound to start cooking Iowa otherwise. SC is great this season, but I’d take last years team comfortably. Boston was a monster & would be their best player this year as well. I just hope Iowa keeps it close, I’m expecting a 12-15 point win for SC, but if Clark gets hot & gets some help from Martin & Stuelke they have a chance. I doubt Stuelke will do much against Cardoso though. Still can’t believe they beat SC last year even with the foul trouble, they were 15 points better than Iowa lol

As you saw she was running circles around them and then when the quick perimeter players and guards switched up on her, she literally rained 3 pointers on them. South Carolina needs to play her same way NBA defensive teams defend Steph curry, pick her up full court and also trap her to prevent the back door runs she uses to get open. The girl is an elite offensive player with great IQ. Also they need to make her play defense by attacking her relentlessly to get her in foul trouble. Otherwise she will continue torturing them.

I was in the gym running about 4 or 5 weeks ago. No clue who Caitlin Clark was. The tv in the gym had Iowa on and she cooked whoever they played. 30+ points. Paid it no mind and just thought she had a crazy game (no sound on the tv). 3-5 days later Iowa was playing as I was home channel surfing. I decided to watch a bit of the game to see if she just had a crazy game a handful of days ago. She cooked again and ever since that day I have been tuned in.

I find it difficult to understand why even a casual fan does not think that women can play basketball. No, there are no dunks, but basketball is about making the right pass, moving the ball, scoring however one can score, and team defense. The women excell at this.

All I can do is shake my head and tip my cap to Caitlyn Clark. If you are like me and a fan of an historic team like SC about to get knocked off this is exactly the way I would prefer it to be. Crazy shot making by the opponent, team play that gave up nothing easy, not even sure they ever hit the rim on their Free Throws. Great job by Iowa. I know our players are going to be sad but I am more excited about next years team than I am about this loss. South Carolina will continue to contend for the natty for many years.
