This video just happened to be in recommended videos. I havnt heard of this channel before today but I’ll definitely be coming back. Yes I’m a die hard hawk fan but I sincerely appreciate listening to people who are not but it seems like so many of them are entirely ANTI Iowa, and portray themselves as just a lover of all things college football. Yet it becomes repulsively obvious that that is not the case and usually turns into just an Iowa bashing campaign. Which is fine but don’t claim to be something different. You appeared to be overwhelmingly fair, respectful, and honest with no agenda and just covering it how ya see it. Thank you for that. It’s refreshing to see. Great video and I’m subscribing now!

Great video. Yes, Kirk is the longest tenured coach in football I believe. Castro is what Phil calls the “CASH” position, which is what Phil created to fight the spread offense coming to the big ten and is essentially a nickel corner. Phil values stopping the run but knew the 4-3 was outdated, so he created this position to counter, without going to a true nickel which he felt could hurt us in the run game. All 3 of our safeties will rotate around a lot and be seen in a variety of roles.

Nice. As a hawk die hard myself, that was the best explanation and simplest explanation, iv seen given when describing the CASH position. Nice work. Go hawks!

Lester will make good improvement, but the learning curve will make the first half of the season rough. The practice videos I have seen reveal the need for receivers that can catch difficult balls, currently they struggle to catch the easy ones. The TEs are the only players that are reliably catching.

You dont know Iowa well enough yet- the x-factor is and will be the punter. 😂. New punter this year as you know. You cant forget our middle linebacker either, or his dad. 10-2 is my guess. Good video, go Hawks!

The trouble last year was Iowa was not competitive at all against Penn State, Michigan or Tennessee, which were the only good teams they played. The defense just got worn down, due the constant 3-and-outs by the offense. Until Iowa starts moving the ball consistently on offense and scoring 24+ per game, last year’s problems will not improve. Regardless of its elite defense, Iowa cannot beat a quality opponent without taking pressure off the defense.

Not making an excuse a loss is a loss. But iowa seemed mentally exhausted after losing to Michigan. Tennessee did beat them. But Iowa coaches and players seemed defeated after losing to Michigan the way they did.

We are now PSU with a coach that WILL NOT leave. As great as it is beating up the little teams to build KF’s wins column, it’s the loses now to teams that matter that is making it hard to think kf is moving us in the right direction. Being outscored 92-0 against the only ranked teams we played last year is a very telling sign. For all you KF loyalists please explain your reasoning to never want him to leave. And don’t bring up his past….college football isn’t about the past.

not a kf loyalists but one example that concerns me is nebraska got rid of bo pelini thinking they were better then 9 wins a year and they have made a bowl game once since letting him go which was 2014 so the best argument is the grass aint always greener

@@dakotaco3691 as a non tissue and lotion KF loyalist, the arguement is weak using Nebraska. It’s a simpletons arguement. Maybe Neb didn’t do a good enough job vetting, or maybe the fan base at Neb was expects way to much in year 1 or 2? Losing KF would be a god send, losing Phil Parker would be disastrous.

I like Iowa being under dogs for Ohio st game that's when they play best! Also I think if Iowa offense is any better than last year they could be dangerous

Hawk D will be outstanding. We will see what our new offense gives us. 9-3 I think is reasonable

What new offense? Unless the pull a miracle in the upcoming transfer portal, they will be 7-5

Sebation Castro Plays the Cash/Leo position specifically he is a Cash. This is a Corner / Linebacker hybrid. Cash leaning more into corner position, Leo leaning more into the linebacker position. So he’s basically a very skilled coverage linebacker . So he’s basically a big safety that plays at linebacker depth.

KF does an outstanding job of coaching. Iowa has, since the inception of B1G divisional football, benefitted greatly from a most anemic schedule. And this year, they have once again, somehow, landed the weakest schedule in the B1G...you really miss the boat here, Darren.

Our defense got little rest last year due to BF INEPT offense that constantly went 3 and out. And turned the ball over because of their atrocious QB. If the new OC can run a competent offense. Look out.

OMG! Is this a serious title or a troll? Deacon Hill during spring training is getting the most snaps as probably the WORST ranked QB in D1, but KF is a coach that leans on "experience" (obviously that "experience" can be good or bad, but how does a player get experience without taking snaps?), Marco Lainez can run, but can't throw, and Cade McNamara is maybe average at best without all the injuries, with the injuries I'd prefer Spencer Petras (and he was awful in my opinion) back. Then Iowa is BLEEDING transfers at the WR position. Their offense is still going to be in the bottom 3rd of D1 offenses. Yes, with the Phil Parker Defense, Iowa can win games in what was the former Big10 west, when their D can hold the opponent to 12 or fewer and the D scores once or twice while the offense puts up two FGs from 40+ yards out, but when Iowa plays any BIG team with a defense and a powerful offense we see exactly what happens to Iowa in big games. As a Hawk from a Iowa family whose been attending the UofI generationally since the early 1900s, I think Iowa, in the new BigTen format, with the expansion teams from the Pac10, Iowa with KF's philosophy of mediocre wins to pad his stats, Iowa is heading back to a "BOB CUMMINGS" era of play being lucky to end the season at .500. Go Lisa Bluder and Iowa WBB cuz that's Iowa's only hope in the near future of being a continued serious contender for big ten titles and a possible natty.

Not if we don'tget a competent, healthy QB and at least 1 more talented WR.
