I feel the large icons are too large..at least for me but maybe you get used to it. Apple please give us 3 sizes for app icons-small/med/large maybe and an option to remove icon text/description regardless of size. 🙏🏻

I would say that the flashlight width slider is not gimmicky at all and is actually a useful new feature!

@@pattycarljacksonto be clear, you still need the hardware to do this. Newer iphone have a lens and an array of leds behind it in the flash module, so the software control is simply choosing which LEDS are on or off

My biggest beef remains the lack of cross device porting of the Journal app. I'm a lifelong journaler, & the iPad is a natural for that! The iPhone is too small for me to use to document my world.

Hopefully Apple adds more icon designs. Also, transparent widgets would be great too.

Love the hiking trails in National Parks added to maps. Are there any in Canada? About a dozen fantastic trails in Algonquin Provincial Park that we visit frequently, and it would be great to be able to use Maps there.

How about lengthening to time to access jiggle mode.? I accidentally activate it all the time

I like the changes, only big thing I still miss is horizontal homescreen mode, especially on a Max.

For hidden apps, is it possible to search in the App Store and see if an app is downloaded that way?

Can the transcription feature handle multiple languages? For example, if I'm recording a Spanish class, will it be able to recognize both English and Spanish in the same recording?

Here's hoping that Apple will add the ability to use a first and secondary colors for the tint feature for icons. Having only the option for a black background and a highlight color is limiting. Otherwise, iOS 18 looks like a phenomenal update!! Obviously, a lot of features are well overdue but hey, better late than never. 😀

Control center shortcut for locations? Yes or no?

ordering icons/widgets on homescreen or control center is a mess right now, you move one thing from one place to another and fckn every other icon starts teleporting to random other places.

I’ve been debating on getting the beta but I’m a bit worried it’ll mess up my phone because of the bugs. Is that something I should be concerned about or do the bugs specifically apply to new features that I would have to implement for them to take affect?

Is it me or does the homescreen editing seems more stable on iOS 18 beta than on current iOS 17 (UI wise)? I’m quite surprised how smooth everything works for a first beta.

If I lock & hide a app & someone go on the App Store & find out I have the app installed or will it show as a app not installed??

Won't be using the app icon tinting feature or dark icons. Their default approach to icons is pretty solid already, where it seems apparent that they prioritize easy navigation based on different colors and shapes. Love the new control center, looks insane! The iPhone eye tracking, in addition to Airpods Pro head "gestures" sound really useful. It makes a lot of sense, considering that they already have built in head tracking for spatial audio. I know Samsung kinda had these features years ago, but most people didn't appreciate it at the time

can the M1 iPad Pro be updated with iPad OS 18?

I wish they improve Freeform for the iPad. In Miro app when you hand write on a sticky note your hand write is ON the note. You don’t have to group the handwriting with the note as you have to in Freeform.

I’m running the developer beta since its release. It’s actually very stable. I’ve only had one issue…I was changing the icons to ‘tinted’ and it froze and then crashed. It’s only happened one time in the 15 times I changed it Other than that, it’s running very smoothly and battery life is good Just missing my call screen from s24u and pixel 8 pro

@@9to5Mac if you're referring to the global one in settings, that is not new but what it doesn't count for is daylight savings. So if you have a meeting scheduled in London, for example, when the clocks change your reminder Will be off unless you manually update that reminder to account for daylight savings.

iOS 18 beta 1 here in KSA STILL NOT COMING 🙄

I love everything about it this update besides the photos app. It’s just way too cluttered now and harder to reach certain things. They should have focused more on smaller more necessary improvements like being able to remove photos from your library after adding them to an album or being able to needledrop a location on a photo like you can on Mac or even being able to change the thumbnail of a video to any frame within the video

Every major OS update I anticipate these videos.

I was sceptical when I read stuff before WWDC about iOS 18 being the biggest update ever. Yeah yeah we've heard it all before. Figured it would be all about the "AI" (ML) stuff but nope, this does genuinely look like the biggest best update it's had in many years. Almost everything demoed here is something I can't wait to use.

It's now a standard scrubbing bar (no longer shows frames, but that was pointless anyways).

So iOS doesn’t stand for iPhone operating system?

I briefly thought about going back to iOS after their Al announcement because they seem to be learning from Google & doing it better, but I know I would miss Android and regret it. Plus I expect Google will double down on their Gemini engineering and do something similar to Apple within the next 1-2 Pixel generations anyway, so my next Pixel should be on par with the best phone Al tools or better.

Apple Intelligence features like this are coming later and will require iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max* or later, and iPad/Mac with M1 chip or later. * Unless there's enough backlash like with Stage Manager and they loosen the requirements a little.

When something becomes outdated on Android devices, Apple takes it and tries to make it look they just invented it on iOS 😂

iOS 18 makes me feel like I am using an android version of apple , something like oneplus and other versions.

The worst part is new gallery app, it sucks. They should copy samsung and allow users to order their pics however they want, also 0 improvement in the keyboard, gboard still miles ahead and the option to customize if you nod your head to answer or decline a call is because there are countries in which you nod to say no like in bulgaria
