I'm pretty open to an iOS major redesign. Its been 10+ years of the same graphics so wouldn't mind something a bit different that still looks good

It's bland as hell to look at after more than a decade of the same icons and aesthetic. I'll make the switch back to iphone if they actually redesign the software to look completely different.

I personally don’t care about side loading but rcs is definitely something that apple should have, no reason to lock people into imessage.This will make it so easier to share images and content with people on android.I also wish apple brings split screen but it will probably never come

It’s pretty exciting that iOS 18 will bring some redesign interfaces..but I’ll get even more excited when I see it cause I’ve heard this rumor many times and it never happens.. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I mean we haven’t had a major year-to-year iOS redesign since iOS 7 but I feel the incremental updates have created an OS that is vastly visually different from iOS 7, 8, or 9. I’d be happy whether they continued the incremental visual improvements or if they kept it incremental.

I don't think they will redesign everything from the ground up. Right now some of the new pages that have been introduced in iOS 16 and 17 are visually a little different already, I think that is a good reference point of where they might go. Some options to change icons, custom icon placements etc, basic things can make a lot of difference.

@@CelphirioIf it is gonna get a redesign, it would probably look like macOS Big Sur, you like it there, you will like it here. I think they would spread the redesign into iOS 19 and iOS 20, iOS 18 would be a stability update and AI Siri, iOS 19 would have control centre and half of the apps as well as sideloading while iOS 20 would be the icons and the remaining apps as well as iPad desktop mode. I predict that iOS 18 would stop support for XR, iOS 19 would stop support for XS (Max) and 11, iOS 20 would stop support for 12 (Mini) and 11 Pro (Max)

I want something completely different. The flat UI is so bland, and it keeps getting uglier with incremental changes since 7.

I’m going to express a pretty unpopular opinion: I don’t care all that much whether iOS 18 is a major redesign or just has some useful additions. As long as it’s not severely buggy, I’m fine with that.

What SiRI needs is the ability to understand different accents and answer questions not giving links to web search. Alexa is great at understanding drunk people and Google Assistant even tries to support the Polish language which is one of the hardest to implement.

I feel like I’ve been hearing “major redesign” rumors for iOS for the past 10 years. It’s not happening, Apple is just starting to converge UI consistency with all their OS’s + they’re probably focused more with vision os

Would be cool to have different choices of redesigns. For example one with more of a professional, corporate but sleek interface, one more animated, and one more calm.

I’m thrilled af for RCS so that texting the 2 people that I text the most will be easier and I’m hoping like hell for a redesign!!! My fingers are crossed 🤞🏽!!!! I love Apple & iOS but I’m so sick of seeing the same thing on my iPhone!!! I literally upgraded last year to the iPhone 14 Pro Max just because of Dynamic Island. I just wanted to see something different on my screen.🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

I hope they add app locks to iOS 18 (separate from the device passcode), that is a feature that I have been wanting for years!

I beg to hear more about the redesign! I hear it’s going to have a new spatial UI (Kinda like VisionOS, similar to the action button UI)

The idea that the iPhone 16 will look the same and that we’re using software to make it look like a bigger change then it is scares me because I wonder if they’re gonna keep big features to the newest models only like with the double tap feature in the series 9 AW. This could be the first year that they make really big changes to iOS and keep it only to the newest model.

Sideloading capability does NOT weaken the security of the iPhone - it is not a security risk unless you deliberately install something that you have not vetted. Just like you vet software that you download from the App Store, you should vet any software that you sideload.

If somebody sideloads an app and their iPhone and/or Apple System gets infected then their guarantees, warranties and Apple Care should be considered null and void. I don’t know what the big deal about the green bubbles is. If somebody tries to text me and there are green bubbles I just block them so I don’t have to deal with them.

I still love how it looks.Hope they don’t ruin the new looks.

I honestly don't know much about the Apple IOS, but I was curious as to why there is not a lot of customizations options on the iphone? Don't get me wrong there is a fair bit, but my understanding is Android phones have a wide range of customization options.

I have to take a closer look at RCS before I use it. I do not want any meta data to go to Google. I would trust RCS much more, if Google was not involved. And an encryption that is not end-to-eng means that is is decrypted somewhere along the way. That feels like having no encryption at all.

Finally a comment that talks sense. There's a valid reason why Apple have not allowed RCS until now. People think that all these EU changes are great without understanding that it seriously compromises the security and privacy of Apple's devices. I'd much rather have great security/privacy than these stupid changes.

I think Apple will add something that watches what these side-loaded apps are doing. To inform the users what that side loaded app is doing.

I really hope Apple lets us place the icons anywhere on the home screen like you can with widgets on the iPad and also give us proper theming options instead of lame way it’s done now with third party apps using shortcuts so we don’t have to keep looking at those stupid large icons anymore. So sick of look at it.

@@gabrielf111 in essence is that basically like having your phone jailbroken back in the day? I used to have so many mods on my phone years ago but haven’t really played around with it in the past few years… I’m not sure if it’s even still possible to get Cydia or installer on your iOS anymore.

@@johnmazmanian6589It’s similar to that, but it works on any iOS version and can be done manually with Xcode or through something else like Altstore using an IPA file. You cannot use mods on iphones anymore as far as I know, and the side loading only adds apps to the phone.

I’m hoping for a completely redesigned gesture system. Their current one is no good. Also, an improved back functionality since going back on Apple devices sucks and is very inconsistent where in android it works every time regardless of app.

I will not side load any app from any small vendor, and possibly none. I prefer the simplicity and security of the App Store.

In regards to your sponsor, I love Baseus. However, the one you're talking about is not my favorite one. My favorite Baseus MagSafe charger has to be the one where not only does it have a USB-C port where you can bring an extra cord and charge it if you want. I don't see why you would want to. But again, it's a MagSafe wireless charger and it also has a stand. Now, I don't know about you, but a wire just attached to it, I'm sorry, I don't like that. Sideloading will only be in EU, never in the USA. It’s like the Simless iPhones. Still can get a Sim phone in Canada, Mexico, and Eastern countries.

Bought an iPhone 15 Pro yesterday, as of right now... I miss my Realme X3Superzoom... I miss Android. :(

What I wish for a is reboot at this point. Including notifications (grouping, stacking, managing… such a mess at this point.), system ui, navigation. It just baffles me that the only way to go back within an app is to reach to the top left corner of the screen (furthest point) for the apps that dont support swipe actions from the left side of the screen. They are hesitant to change almost anything at this point, but it has been 10 years and I think it is some to rebuild rather than tweak. Phones dont have 4 inch screens anymore. But iOS is has been developed for such a screen size.

Maybe they need to make Siri smarter and somewhat useful

Siri can’t even work on the HomePod has only working with people it knows so unless you have a Apple account and use Siri it will just ignore you nothing like Google assistant that’s just works

Maybe this could be the year that control centre is redesigned to look more like smth from macOS and is more customisable cause that has been rumoured for a few years at this point

lmao i remember when ios7 released i had just sold my iphone 5 and already had my new android in the mail cause i was switching platforms i think i got a droid turbo, and i almost didn’t want to get rid of it where i saw the ios 7 update, still i ended up using android all the way up to like android 5.0 and i ended up getting a iphone 7 plus when they finally started making the iphone bigger lol 😂, now im on the verge of switching back to android so i better wait and see what this ios 18 ends up like
