I think 17 is slowly being developed into 18. Optimization starts coming when 17 software becomes the back end for 18. The codes for 18 will be the more improved 17, like 17 is the more improves 16 and so on. It is all leading up to the next software upgrade, not just the next firmware update.

I upgraded to 18 a few days ago and just minimal to no bugs! The only bugs are that the icons are sometimes blank and sometimes the FPS got a bit of drop on the apps 😉

I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS 18 beta 1 and I noticed my battery last longer than iOS 17 and charging became faster I’m loving it rn it doesn’t heat up or anything and there’s no issue found

Exactly, my iPhone’s battery is so much better than it ever was on IOS 17 (All versions). And IOS 18 is smooth unlike IOS 17.5.1!

@@zfacersane272Doubt it’s a placebo, 14pro here and I’ve had similar experiences. At first my phone was randomly heating up, after a day it stopped and performance and battery life has been better than iOS 17.5.1, only bug I’ve encountered was a weird Siri one and search bug.

To be totally honest this beta is one of the smoothest apple has released imo. The previous ones were extremely buggy (i.e. iOS 14) whereas this one lacks it. The temperature for me isn’t too bad either. (using iPhone 14 Pro)

Great video man can't wait for iOS 18 to release and update it on my iPhone 15 just wish that it was out sooner as the main one and not the beta but I understand that they need to take some time fixing some bugs and just working on making it work well.

I also noticed in ios 18 when you are clicking the volume button there’s a cute little animation beside it’s screen

The dock animation have been changed, in 18 its slide to the side now with the rest of the apps not feeding out anymore

What I noticed after watching your video is that the app library transition is simply nothing now. Previously (on 17.5.1) its like a card stack type animation which used to blur everything and bounce in front of u. Now its just scrolling. Thats nice. ❤

At this point i cant see myself ever going back to android. IOS pretty much added everything I liked about android and everything i like about ios win win.

Coming from an ex android user I had split screen option but never used it I always used floating windows option it’s more useful and better looking 😌, here on iPhone 15 Im not lacking those options I got used to iOS immediately

Can you test on old iphone like xs or 11 i want to see how it performance compare to ios 17.5.1 maybe some gaming and temperature test

No heat issues, cool to the touch. Only time I had warmth is after installing due to background processing. No difference in battery. More smooth and enjoying the new features.

Hey nick, is it possible for you to test older devices too? Like all the older supported devices like the SE 2, Xr, 11 and so on.

I have an iPhone 12. When I attempted to install the ios 18 beta, I noticed that the battery percentage decreased every two to three minutes which is must faster than my ios 17.5.1 which decreases every five to six minutes

Mr nick ram management part is my favorite because I can see the animations better...

Been using the normal 12 for this beta and hasnt been that bad. No issues other than lagginess in new features, but thats to be expected.

Nick you've gotta test the images in imessage. Mine load super laggy. Like just clicking an image you sent someone.

running this ios 18 update on my daily device and i havent had a single bug

RAM management has improved… from my experience. Not noticeable in 6-8gb ram phones, but an old ipad of mine with 3gb ram seems to hold the apps in the background much better, including games like call of duty

This update is so bad on iPhone 13. I am noticing lag and heating and the phone feels sluggish in general. I hope it’s fixed on Beta 2

I’m honestly really surprised how stable iOS 18 beta 1 is on my 15 Pro, no heat or battery issues for me

I think they did this a bit for the ship but older iPhone are capable of having ia when they have internet because it won’t use the ship

I run into some odd glitches and stutter (keyboard acting up, widgets going blank, etc..) but overall having tested betas on my main devices for over 10 years.. this is one of if not the smoothest and bug free betas in memory.

Doesn't the pro max has 1 extra core and slightly higher clock speed???

I hope it doesn't become too much battery draining when it's officially released

On my iPhone 12 I got better battery life than when it was running on iOS 17.5.1 and performance has also been better than before so mixed results there

I own the 14 plus I have it on contract which is great because otherwise it’s unaffordable would I upgrade no not with all the bugs in both

We’ll be more interested in battery performance rather than speed test, please bring battery comparison

I wouldn’t say that Apple intelligence for the 15 pro is not to increase sellings, but it’s true that the NPU on the 15 pro (35 TOPS) is more than twice as powerful as the previous generation (16 TOPS), so I think there’s an actual reason to this feature for being exclusive, but I’m not sure how this works on the iPads

I had the issue where the apps wouldn’t move while trying to adjust the homescreen. I had to restart my phone. But otherwise I really didn’t have issues other than overheating. I’m using the 11 pro max

That wiggle bug is also in the iOS 17.5.1, I have been facing that bug since like iOS 17.0 and yet no fix. Not a iOS 18 bug, I can confirm

You mentioned greater heating on the Iphone of IOS 18 beta 1. But my Iphone 15 pro max, improved heating and battery consumption. I don't know why this happens, but I think it depends on the iPhone.

All of the updates after 17.3 just made a mess when it comes to battery life on my 14 PM.

Does iOS 18 have a clipboard?

iOS 18 doesn’t have any retro wallpaper packs, but maybe in the future, they will add retro wallpaper from iOS 1 to 17.

Ai on arm actually uses less power it just needs an npu that apple always had but it could be that it needs a fast npu for ai

I have to agree the battery kinda stinks right now.

its a beta. thats why they say not to isntall on main device because they still havent done all the optimizations and bug fixed. also new IOS uses more resources and more resources use more energy thus bettery going faster. common sense tbh

I don't understand Apple said that some tasks which require more extensive processing or can't be processed on-device go to private cloud compute servers then why not make it always go to private cloud servers for those older devices that doesn't have the RAM requirements etc. as in 15 Pro.

I'm planning to switch to the iPhone 15 pro max at the end of june. I was between the samsung s24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, but I just decided that I think the iPhone is the best option. Also, the video is great, man.

The Geekbench 6 cores on the pro was insanely low. On average the pros do better than the maxes, for example my highest for multi was around 7500. and 2953 for single core

It's a little bit slow on the iphone 15 pro

You can See the lag in iOS 18. its normal because its a beta 1 but I wait until the final Release.

M1 chips have slower NPUs than those in A17 Pro. The M1 is based on A14 so they have slower NPUs than A15 and A16 as well.

I hope Apple implements number row on keyboard, universal back gesture, and android style notification system. These are the only things keeping me from trying an iPhone and are huge quality of life features that you only appreciate if you've been on android for awhile. IMO of course since this is the internet ;D

The new AI features will only work on the current pro model devices because they require at least 8gb of RAM, which means M1 or higher and A17 pro or higher. So Apple isn’t trying to force people to upgrade. If that were the case they would’ve made you have to upgrade your Mac and iPad as well.

I think they made it to get people more new iPhones, because when you look at the Neural Engine in the M1 Chip. It can operate over 11 Trillion Operations per second and it will get Apple Intelligence. Even the A15 Bionic can operate more (15.8 trillion) and don’t get the AI update. So I don’t get it. I think the 13 Pro and higher should get the AI update.
