That’s how my iPhone 5 was on iOS 7. I’d be at like 48% battery and it would just randomly die lol.

Yep. And if you’re looking for a cheap daily driver, it’s easily your cheapest option if you want something that’s still supported. You may have to fork over some extra money for a new battery, but even with that, you’re still paying less than $200 for a phone with the most recent OS that runs modern apps.

Put this in perspective. Apple is supporting a device from 2 presidential administrations ago. That’s pretty cool.

Okay I’m shocked and incredibly pleased. When you got to the message with multiple photos, I was sitting here thinking “There’s no way the carousel works on the 6S”. Then you showcased it. 🤯 This kind of support from Apple is beautiful for those that hold onto devices long term.

I may recommend a power bank or a battery case for your phone because your battery may drain a lot. But yeah, good luck.

I still use the 6s as my main phone. I love the form factor, it’s fast enough for my needs, it has a headphone jack and a physical home button, and best of all it has a standard 16:9 screen with no notch. I have a second one with the public beta 2 installed. It been great so far.(ps both of mine are 64gb)

This was my old phone when it released and it's currently used as a spare phone in the house. It's nuts that this is still getting updates. Needs to be a norm from all phone manufacturers.

I have a 6s still. As long that they have updates I will keep my 6s phone. Battery sucks though. I charge it a few times a day. Maybe maybe next year I will get a new phone. Will see! Thanks !

@@NS-zp3dy yea u r right the capacity of 6s is less but check the battery health of the 6s. if its less than 85. change the battery then it may sort out the battery issue .

BTW, the oldest device (granted, iPadOS) still supported with iOS / iPadOS 15 is the iPad Air 2 which was released almost a full year before the iPhone 6S.

The limiting factor on getting the new OSes seems to be RAM. With the last iOS every device needed at least 2gb. More than 2gb starts with iPhone 8 plus and X.

@@daniel_960_ Ram isn’t always a determining factor for software updates so I see apple dropping the 7/7 plus together. The 7/7 plus will most probably last till at least iOS 16 or 17 imo.

I’m gonna wait till fall for this one. I don’t want a dead battery in 20 Minutes maximum. Keep with the amazing content :)

On my Xs Max, you have to 3D Touch on the focus icon on the Lock Screen. You can’t just hold it, like you do on devices without 3D Touch. So maybe that’s why it wasn’t working when you were just holding it

Honestly 3D Touch was awesome, sad they killed it, both of my daily devices (iPhone XR an iPad 8th generation) don’t have it sadly

I was so sure that iPhone 6S wouldn’t recieve iOS 15 and then it did and I was astonished. But when I think about it all the new features both in iOS 14 and 15 could’ve made one single update. It’s still nice that they included the oldest devices though, no one would ask why if they didn’t. And I’m a bit sad that I won’t be able to use Live Text and offline Siri.

Get a phone you can use without software update Besides android oems update their personal skins with features from the the existing android version for atleast 4 years and also 4 years of security update and google apps get updated too from the PlayStore so you not losing any features

I definitely would be pleased to see a performance & battery life rewiev with the SE2016 throughout the betas of iOS15 and later on as well! Thanks for this video!

Great video Brandon! Thanks for the info. Boy, even though I have the iphone SE 2020, it's good to know that my iphone 6S plus is barely compatible with ios 15. I'm not surprised that the 6S and most likely the 6S plus would be so slow, being a much older iphone.

I'm still using my iphone 6s but the ios is 10.3.3 is it still okay to update? how long do you think would it take? is it risky?

I’m running the beta on my iPhone 6s 64 GB (rather then my iPhone 12) and I’ve found the beta to be really smooth and I haven’t had any random respirings. I’ve seen lots of visual bugs but not anything major. I’ve also have bad battery life with minimal things on it but with the beta and small older battery it’s to be expected.

I am still using iphone 6s since my wife upgraded to iphone 11. It is awesome and I live the feel of that device. 1) best part j can repair 2) it has all the new updates and works with my iPad and Mac with no issues 3) after replacing battery this works awesome and has full day battery life. Ps : at times I use Android phone for photos

The iPhone 6S only has a dual-core CPU. iPhone 7 introduced the 2 extra power-saving cores. I think the Home Screen uses those low-power cores in newer iPhones to update the widgets. Since the 6S doesn’t have those, it’s forced to use the full powered cores all the time.

Hi Brandon. You mentioned cleaning the cache and I'm stumped. All the articles I read talk about cleaning safari but I don't use it as my main browser. Before ios14.6 I had an app to clean junk off the phone but it doesn't work anymore. What are your suggestions for cleaning the 6s up?

I've been testing on my spare 6s plus it runs not too bad but does drain the battery quickly. But after a few hours it re-springs and get stuck at the apple logo and needs connecting to itunes to restore it

i do think why its eating up system storage so much is the lack of ram that se and 6s has. ios may have a feature where they can use flash storage as ram. definitely long ways to go to optimize ios 15 for the oldest devices.

Spacial Audio is the exact same thing as Head Tracking, and only works on AirPods Pro and Max. Dolby Atmos is what you were referring to.

Excellent video! Now it'd be grat if you could do the same with an iPhone SE 1st gen. We currently have 4 of these devices at home and they run iOS 14 pretty well, but apart from the new Weather app and few other minor upgrader, I don't really see a reason to upgrade.

At 5:25, are you pressing hard enough? The iPhone 6S uses 3D Touch, so just pressing and holding won't open the menu like it would on new devices that use Haptic Touch.

As long as iOS is still up to date on my 6S, I’m holding out for an iPhone that has a screen with a smaller or eliminated notch.
