I have one of those, and the sound quality is shockingly good.

I think you were too polite to the Ion, Michael! 😄 On the subject of belts, I've noticed that those on Sony, Pioneer, Hitachi and Aiwa decks are the most likely to have perished, while Akai, Panasonic/Technics, Yamaha and JVC seem to be pretty much indestructible.

Might have well been, but it just about does the job lol

I have the Ion Tape 2 PC tape deck and I think it's sound as a pound! Ive had a few so called all in one hi fi 's and they all have the same thing in common, they all have that crap permanent magnet for the recording head along with the shity sounding ceramic cartridge record player. I just wish they had a all in one with a proper tape deck and the electtro magnetic recording head. I have a Auna Birmingham all in one which has the magnetic cartridge record player alongside the CD player, internet radio and Bluetooth. It's got out put RCA so I can connect it to my Ion Tape 2 PC. . I have a RCA switch box that has 3 inputs and 1 out put , connected to a Pyle PCA4 amplifier. This is good as the Auna Birmingham has it's own speakers, but if I want it through 4 speakers I turn on the amplifier!

In my humble opinion, any Ion product is the perfect gift for a 10 yo child to get started in audio world, without worrying about spoiling it. That's all. 🤷‍♂️

@@MichaelYates The Pyle (and other branded ones ) looks a clone of the Ion....yes it does...but the used parts are not the same...The Ion ones are from a higher quality....YOU TUBE CHANNELL VWESTLIFE shows that!

Look for a dbx three head Hitachi machine of course condition is important. made the best studio reel-to-reel machines then anybody else
