About 2 Meter Sessions
====================
Based in the Netherlands, 2 Meter Sessions is an independent, ongoing (new) music platform with a great legacy. Monthly we film 3 to 4 sessions with promising and breakthrough acts from all over the world.
Many well-known acts have visited the show; from James Taylor, Elliott Smith and David Crosby to Damien Jurado, Ben Howard and Josh Ritter, via Radiohead, Nirvana, Coldplay and Foo Fighters. Archive footage can regularly be seen in (theatrical) documentary movies, like “Mystify: Michael Hutchence” (with footage of our session with INXS, filmed in 1997), “Heaven Adores You” (with footage of our session with Elliott Smith, filmed in 1998) and “All I Can Say” (with footage of our session with Blind Melon, filmed in 1993).
The show started back in 1987 by radio presenter Jan Douwe Kroeske. On his popular national radio show he persuaded New-Zealand band Crowded House to play a couple of songs. The response of the public was so great, that 2 Meter Sessions quickly became a household name. In 1993, the show made a successful transition to national television. From there the show became a national phenomenon, for over 10 years, with filmed sessions of new talent, breakthrough acts and arrived career artists. Almost a million of 2 Meter Sessions cd’s were sold in the Netherlands.

    JM. I agree that he looks tired but you can't say that his vocals are not incredible. What a talent. The band are amazing too. Gone far too soon. I think the fact that it's 2023 and we're still interested and listening...........that says something. He was a legend and I reserve that word for only the creme de la creme. Rest in fabulousness Michael ❤

    INXS was absolutely a great band. Michael is wholly in the running for the best front man of any rock band ever. I'd say he sings technically better than most of the competition in a collision of smoothness and raw power. I'm a big Paul Rodgers fan and he's right there also. But I digress, INXS blended funk guitar grooves with power chords, Andrew's infectious and always tasty keys, Gary's playful, yet heavy and spot-on bottom, and Jon's explosive snare pop to create something beyond by rote rock and roll. Something quite like an impressive mashup of soul, melodic, heavy, emotive, and hooky - real ear candy you keep wanting more of. Gone way too soon as they were still firing on all cylinders making important music. This band had it all and watching this just reinforces my high opinion of them. Excellent, and still relevant today.

    INXS has a quality similar to The Beetles / Van Halen , their song writing is rooted in live playing and feedback adjustments to crowds, INXS made music based on watching how you react, not forcing you to like what they think you should like

    Superb video & sound quality. Thank you for posting. INXS sounds fantastic, as usual, but I cannot help but see some strain and lack of happiness in Michael's performance. He sings with perfection, but he doesn't look like he is enjoying himself. Knowing now what the future held, I think you can tell Michael was suffering. He was such a talent that he could persevere, despite his depression and the long-term medical impacts of the concussion incident in Copenhagen. May that cab driver who hit him rot in hell. Long live the greatness of INXS. These guys defined talent and musical acumen. They belong in R&R HOF.

    People says he looks tired...i don't see it. He was definitely into the music. He could separate his professional/band life and personal life. I think it was soley personal issues that did him in. When you're idolized..its said to be a lonely place. Not bring able to spend much time with his daughter shattered him.😢 Such a loss of talent and great person.

    It's my understanding that Michael never intended to take his own life, it was an accident, Autoerotic Asphyxiation. Also, he had some depression in his life, and he did tend to over medicate. Plus he and Paula had legal issues going on stemming from Bob Geldoff and the kids, but I don't believe for one second that he took his own life. That's just not who he was. He loved life!💕

    @Tyra Maybe, however if it was autoerotic, how can one explain him calling Michele from his hotel room totally distraught, 20 minutes before she arrived only to find he did not answer her knock...doesn't fit into the narrative that at that moment he would engage in such an act, for me anyway. I believe it was suicide, accidental suicide though, in the sense how the Doctor describes it in the Mystify extra...caught up in an intense wave of emotion, he wasn't thinking rationally due to several factors (depression, TBI, drug and alcohol use, no sleep, anger, an emotional situation) that if he had been interrupted he would have been shocked himself in hindsight. I do agree it just didn't seem like Michael, but taking it all into account, maybe he did find himself stuck in a moment like in the U2 song. Either way, only one person knows the truth.

    @@3950laura hi there. You make several good points. But the one thing I don't understand is why he chose to hang himself from the doorknob, of all things? And considering his height, it just doesn't make sense. I would think he would of chose the shower head instead or at least something higher up. That's the main reason why I believed it was Autoerotic.

    The story goes that the God of music was restless, he yearned to visit earth. Although this God gave man music, he could never experience it through a man's soul. This made the God very sad. Well, after so many years of seeing their friend sad & distraught, all the gods got together and decided to let him transform into a man & go to earth, but he was only granted 37 years, after which he had to return to them for they needed his music also and could not risk staying without it for too long. His mortal name was Michael Hutchence.
