The most guesome thing from The Boys is probably when that girl supe crush her landlord’s head. That scene seemed to be equivalent in shock factor to this episode 1 premiere but Invincible did it way better

The books also have a really good ending which is great because most comics start off really good and the ending goes to shit. This comic series is one of the exceptions.

At the start of the episode when the White House guard started talking about his son and going on vacation, I thought 'Oh damn, they're building sympathy for this guy, he's a dead man.' Then he survived, and I was like, oh cool! Then when they started showing backstory for the Guardians and making me like them, I didn't even blink until the the Cronching started. I suspect they didn't save the twist for later, because at this point, it is naive to think people won't either, look the source material up, or have the twist innevitably spoiled for them in a number of possible ways. If so, that was rather clever.

@@Funnyj33ns People saying the exact thing the show/comic was trying to be subtle about takes away from the fun of the mystery of why he did it and his motivation truly is, even if that mystery was revealed to comic readers a decade ago not every one reads these books especially regular consumers of superhero content that mainly watch the shows and movies and don’t pay attention to the books. Plus not every show that isn’t part of the run of the mill dc/marvel universe is like the boys and while this is similar to the boys, it definitely seems it is going to be very different than the boys since the boys is looking at the superhero genre through a lens of cynical realism, invincible looks like it is looking at it with a more realistic lens contrary to it’s animated presentation.

"Being a parent is tough. You don't know when you're giving your kid a complex." One of the most profound statements ever!! Deep on so many levels.

I hope this show gets the fan base it deserves. It's a fantastic story and in my opinion Kirkman's best work.

it's nice to see that there is someone who has read the comic, I hope you do the rest of this season

The comic is great. The best part is that it's not too long as far as comic series go (around 150 issues) and it has a definitive ending.

I am so glad we got an extended version of the Omni-Man vs Guardians fight, in the comics it was just a few panels and yes, mostly off-screen, this right here was insane, the whole secuence is so, so good!!

In the comics he finishes them off quick and dips so nobody would suspect him but in the animated version he intentionally holds back and gets beaten up so he wouldn't become a suspect when they do investigating.

@@calebstephan2083 I don't think he was holding back, not 100% at least, maybe they did it that way to show that the guardians - as a group - pose an actual threat to him, but, it's just a theory.. (still, an awesome scene)

One of the coolest scenes for me is father and son playing catch AROUND THE EARTH!!! LOL!!

I love how Adam was in such anticipation of Jay's reaction to the attack on the Guardians but then was also shocked himself by how graphic the carnage was...

I'm at war with myself. Part of me is screaming, "WE GOTTA START READING THESE!" The other part wants this to all be a surprise.

I’ve never read the books so I’m going into this blind like Jay. I don’t...I...I’m not even sure...I can’t even guess where this is headed. All I know is....I am all in! Let’s go!!!

I love how you can really see the mixed emotions and worry growing on Adam's face at 14:37 and on, long before "the" scene begins he half-way realizes they're definitely dropping the whole plot twist now instead of later, and he's trying to resist the show's attempts to get you attached to these new characters before the slaughter. But like him, we can't fully resist because they all seem to be likeable, competent heroes who are unwittingly leaving their lives behind for the last time. Of course, when the actual violence begins the smile on his face is the same one I had, I think everybody who read the comics long before the animation came along were excited for the moment, the moment when all the new fans would realize just how gory this show's most violent moments will be. And it's not that the violence is great and fans revel in it, but it's more about the bond the new and old fans of the story now share being formed. Now *you* get to witness the horrors that *we* did! For the characters that survive to the end of this story, the crucible they get put through is brutal and exhaustive. "Welcome to the club!" *That's* the kind of smile you see on Adam's face when Red Rush's head goes pop.

"SUPLEX HIM!" haha, it's funny because Nolan would never hurt his son like that :)

"...surprise!" made me laugh so hard.

"Surprise." Well said. Even though I knew what was coming, I STILL was shocked.

the Fish Aquaman absolutely kills me

After watching your reaction to the trailer you guys are easily my most anticipated reactors to watch for this show.

The ear to ear shit-eating grin on Adam's face while he's watching Jay watch the Guardians getting destroyed is just the best. That feeling of seeing someone react so viscerally to something you reacted to equally viscerally the first time you experienced it is so palpable, and apparently it goes a third layer deep because I'm just loving this.

The fact that Mark starts off the series hardly being able to take a punch from a teenager, compared to some of the shit he takes later.

does Amazon have a head popping fetish? like srsly its concerning, Amazon you need a hug?

@@jordanrayzor6054 just stay tunned bro, the drama and the things that will happen, the revelations, it will be just great and by the way they're telling the story and tweaking plots, things will get very uncertain and interesting because some things happen in the comics pretty similar and sooner as they do on the tv show and some things happen really different and later on, i'd suggest you to give it a try to the comics they're really good and explore mature and serious stuff even despite it is a comic, and the art is awesome too

Not going to lie red rush was my favorite character despite the little screen time he had, my heart sunk to shit when I saw that and, the way he went out

I told my friend to buckle up, that twist was nothing compared to what's coming.

That ending had Jamie hoofing Bran out the window vibes for me. Leaving the audience with their jaw on the floor right out the gate.

Never read books. Was going to follow along with you guys, but after this episode I had to watch the first 3! Love this show so far. I was Jay in that last scene lol.

Well, Adam wasn't lying. This storyline is great so far! The animation is absolutely top notch, possibly better than anything DC or Marvel has done to date. It was all "a hero is born story" and heartfelt family moments, then... CROUNCH(x7)!!!

Like, what? Okay, umm... wow! I haven't read the books either and I reacted just like Jay. Thank you Adam for recommending this, because that was a crazy first episode to experience.

The few things I absolutely love about the direction going on during the twist ending, was 1. In the comic (from what I've seen so far) the whole betrayal took place like an assassin taking them out almost immediately, they didn't stand a chance. So seeing this all play out in excruciating detail was tonally perfect. And 2. Did you notice how when Omni-Man arrives and everyone starts taking the fight to him the music is still playing? But after the first kill, the music is completely dead, and stays that way. It was perfect to show it all playing out, you HAVE to establish what's at stake. It was like watching Glenn being executed by Negan all over again. I'm sold!

I’m so excited to see Jay’s reaction to all the upcoming episodes, especially with all that goes on later in the series. I was also a bit shocked that they pushed the death of the guardians at the end so early on in. Still can’t wait for your reactions for 2 and 3!

I haven't read a ton of the comic but I've read enough to know how ultra-violent it was. The first chunk of this episode had me wondering if it was going to be a tame version but watching that ending get crazy was very satisfying. I'm so hooked.

I am legit rolling at how accurate Jay's intuition is and how Adam keeps throwing Jay off and then giving the little sneaky tricky side-eye. I have to say, I bought the entire series in three compendiums after watching this show but haven't been able to quite get into it? (Granted, pandemic brain has made it hard to read anything not work related without feeling exhausted-hoping that will go away soon.)

I'm pretty glad this episode ended in a huge twist. I only knew of this show by the THINK MARK meme, and then I also saw one clip of Mark saying, "That's sexist, but ok", so I kinda went into this show expecting something closer to the Harley Quinn animated show. Boy was I surprised. Tbh, I wasn't totally sold the first time I saw episode one. It felt like a generic super hero show that's maybe a bit more volgure than what you'd expect, but then that ending happened. If it didn't have that after credit scene, who knows if I would've kept watching. Now I absolutely love this show, and really want to get into the comics. I'm SO glad it's getting more seasons!
