Eric Blair was born in 1903 in Motihari, Bengal, in the then British colony of India, where his father, Richard, worked for the Opium Department of the Civil Service. Se usa en escritos pero también oral, para dar énfasis (en ese caso de la madre, para imponer su autoridad), para parecer más interesante, etc.

Hola, compañero. Esa frase que has puesto no es correcta por dos razones... La inversión con not only ... but also se hace en la primera frase solo y no en la segunda y otro fallo es que el sujeto va entre but y also ( mucha gente comete ese error) Sería así...
