Inverse Variation

I introduce the concept of inverse variation and compare it to direct variation. I finish by working through many examples:) Find free review test, useful notes and more at www.mathplane.com If you'd like to make a donation to support my efforts look for the "Tip the Teacher" button on my channel's homepage / profrobbob

Professor RobBob ,thank you for another incredible video/lecture on Inverse Variation in Algebra One/Two. This material is easy to follow, however the word problems can be problematic. These problems are common in Intermediate and College Algebra.

Very reassuring to know that your channel will be here for my next math class which is college algebra. I definitely wouldn't have made it through Algebra 2 this semester without your videos for backup because I took a faster paced class by accident but after finding your channel I decided to stick with it and made it through thanks to your help and now I plan on doing the same next semester! Thanks a lot for what you do and please keep up the good work!

WOW, sounds like your plate is full HeartCash ! Thanks for watching, learning and subbing...I'm glad my videos are helping with that study load of yours:) We have a friend who recently got her nursing license and she LOVES what she does. One of my favorite quotes is by Confucius "Choose a job you love and you will "never" have to "work" a day in your life" After 19 years of teaching I still find that to be true:)

When y = 64, I accidentally read it as -64 because the equal lines were close together. I like to pause the video and solve the example and then see if I got anything wrong. I realized the error and paused and solved it correctly before the solution. Thanks. Just wanted to point that out in case anyone else thinks it said -64.

Mr. Tarrou, how come in the last example we can use the answer we got for the larger gear which was k=2480pi for the small gear. I feel like I'm missing a logic step somewhere to be honest. - - ||

The k, or constant of change, in this problem is the number of revolutions * the circumference, so it is basically the number of inches of chain that was moved by the front sprocket. If you move 2480pi inches of chain around the front sprocket, this is how much chain must be moved around the back sprocket.
