@@QUEENKONAI found a tech that would be willing to do it. It is a bit pricey no doubt, and probably would need to be refinished but honestly that’s kind of my dream Ibanez in a way so I’d be willing to sell off another one of my other guitars to make that happen, which is the most likely path to me doing that.

FYI the stock pickups are Dimarzio fusion edges, Jesse has Dimarzio dactivators

Absolutely love this band, currently one of the absolute best in the scene in my opinion. Thanks so much for this guitar chat!

Honestly these chill, casual interviews discussing super nerdy modern metal guitar details are really cool. These are such great features for artists who don't normally get covered by bigger channels/publications like Premier guitar or Guitar World. Keep this going, man it's awesome

Hell yeah. Been stoked since for this since you posted it on IG. Saw these guys live with ERRA and Bad Omens and it was an absolute blast.

That is my favorite guitar I've ever owned... and I have owned many. The 2027xl is a monster yet easily tamed and playable!

Really enjoyed this! IA is one of my all-time favorite bands

Jesse uses Dimarzio Illuminators(or at least used). The stock XL dimarzios are the Fusions, closely matching that of a Titan which Jesse used in some 6 strings also before settling on illuminators.

Bruh a 74 gauge in double drop d# how??? I have to be at a 85 for drop e on a 27 inch scale to even feel any kind of tension

I use a 95 gauge for D# on a 27" multiscale and i'm thinking of bumping it up to 100 haha

Evertune is the key word here. You could easily tune down to Drop F on a 25.5“ scale with a 74 as long as you’ve got an evertune.

@@perrtown that is exactly what it does. It has a spring system that automatically adjusts the tension as the string stretches or flexes to maintain the tuning

he said he’s using the 8 string guitar string sets so I’m curious if he’s tuning that low anyway why he doesn’t make the swap over to an 8 string? I think a player like him could really push the boundaries of an 8 string like he’s already been doing with 7

How can you get that to intonate though at such low tuning? I've been told by guitar techs and luthiers that 27" isn't enough for tuning that low especially when .80 is max string guage.

Evertune magically makes low tunings intonate better on shorter scales. Normally you’d be totally right, 27 is not enough really for perfect intonation at D#

It's same octave except for certain notes. Caleb uses a 35" scale length bass I believe and it's just in normal drop D# for bass. So like a half step down and then another full step for the low boi

Could someone explain at 9:50. Does he mean the 6th string as in the .54 gauge, or the first string .10 gauge? I feel like you wouldn’t want a .10 gauge for double drop D# tuning. But I also wouldn’t want 5 wound strings instead of 4.

Get an Ernie ball 8 string pack 10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 54, 64, 74 Get rid of the 54 Then string the guitar with the remaining 7 strings. You’ll still have the normal ratio of wound to flat to wound strings, but your strings would go in this order 10, 13, 17, 30, 42, 64, 74

Can someone explain what evertune does? how does a 74 hold tuning on double drop D? Lol - must be worth getting I assume

How he is doing it I don’t know, I have a 26.5 using an .85 that gets me to F#. I’m thinks a .74 or .80 would get him to F#. Evertune locks the tension in, a string will never lose pitch, it has springs for each spring that will adjust to compensate for strings stretching over time and depending on what you have it set to, it can cancel out bending. I believe I saw evertune only supports up to .80 strings and Drop F and so I don’t he accomplishes anything beyond that with thinner strings

You can set up an evertune to have pretty much no pitch drift whatsoever, which helps a lot with using thinner strings

He just needs to order a new string module for that broken one. Super easy fix… just have to take the comb off and swap out that single string module.

I really need to stop playing the air guitar and actually learn how to play a guitar.

It's a beautiful guitar, but 27" for D#1 so damn short. Especially with the Evertune his 7th string must be so damn floppy. They should definitely do a 28" and even a 29.4" (like the Meshuggah guitar) 7 string models
