Intune Remote Help for macOS devices

Ғылым және технология

In this video I look at setting up and demonstrating Intune Remote Help with a macOS user. Introduced in the Intune 2309 release this new functionality adds to the features available through the Intune suite while extending the capability with Intune management for Apple devices.
We go through:
1- looking at the Microsoft documentation and the feature capabilities
2 - Setting up Intune for running Remote Help with macOS devices
3 - Demonstrating the Remote help admin and end user experience with an unenrolled macOS device

I went through the video. Not a reflection on channel - but everything, and I do mean everything in 365 is turning into 'pay a license fee' - and then here is the half assed buggy stuff. You buy into a license and then the forums filled with broken state and hair being torn out are the reality. None the less - thanks for taking the time to show things. I do appreciate it.

Appreciate your view on this. Im definitely not paid by Microsoft but do expect the functionality to improve if not before GA then going forward

@@theCMC I think everyone needs to be placing greater accountability on /from microsoft. Unless the product is fit for purpose and not relatively fit for purpose....

We do need MS to be accountable - buggy and broken software is not acceptable. That said, this feature is in Preview, meaning it is very much expected to be buggy and broken for a little while - that’s what the Preview tag is for. With regards to the pricing discussion - Microsoft is not a charity. Whilst all organisations are feeling the pinch and struggling, Microsoft also needs to pay for the ongoing development of features and services. The Intune Suite has been priced according to its expected final value, once all 6+ features are released. This means the current actual value is lower, but nothing has been Removed from the Intune capability, and no organisation is being forced to purchase Intune Suite or Remote Help. Just adding a balanced view.

@@DeanEllerbyMVP Let me then add my own. I've watched for years as intune 'gets tuned' - and yet, years in we are with band aids, and with sticking plaster, and features not yet in GA. My sentiment, and I will say that of my customers, is we do not need the stupid cadence and endless new unfinished, none GA products pouring out. We don't need entra renaming shannanigans. We need a slower cadence, and frankly a real focus on stability - and completing functional feature sets. Its an absolute farce that intune still has not reached a state where old technology is not eclipsed (GP is still more robust, Autopilot is problematic), new machines get rolled out with GA and end user are admins - which then needs security work to address the self inflicted bullet through the foot. This is not new. Intune has been a maybe suite for years that sits in an incomplete state. The world view is that intune is poor as an MDM, and the customers are paying for it to try to crawl up to a viable working level for none windows devices and handling. The idea that remote help/desktop is a paid extra in the modern MDM scape is idiotic. In the modern MSP land, that's built in. I'm also going to cut the mustard here. This isn't new. At least parts of it are not. Remote assist, having some bolt on that allows actual elevation - was taking an existing code base, and actually making it fit for purpose. The idea you leverage extra fees for elevation - is stomach churning stupid. The Microsoft is not a charity line is fair. But the customer isn't either. What do you think this is? Indiegogo? This isn't shareware. You, and perhaps the lucky don't perhaps have the fight I have to try to fund things. So you'll have to forgive my bluntness. My customers are sick of broken product, features and new models that are deemed pointless complexity - and a rising tide of failure in core product. I've had Jeff (head of server), and other senior leadership slide to 'we're not a charity, and screw you if you don't pay us' mode all too frequently in the past 3 years. Its now 'the mantra'. When I stare at my tenants today - what I see is endless 'alerts' and status where 365 apps across the boards have failures and issues. It was pitched, and sold as being better than on prem and 'run by Microsoft' Its turning into 'you run the steaming pile of crap yourself', and secure it what you are at it - but by the way thats X more licensing too, learn an ever climbing mountain of of dross. Do explain why I spend more time today than I ever did with my on prem products, explaining why outlook, teams, sharepoint, onedrive - I could go on - is not working right today? I had a support call 3 weeks ago with MS, and they are not even allowed to use teams because its so non compliant its barred from use. By the company that built it. I'd laugh, but its not funny. By the way - write off my comment. But do go explore the forums filled now with venting spleen about things like Intune.

May I ask one quick question? Can we use Intune Remote Help over a Windows device by a Macbook? As far as I experience (tested on devices already), it seems like impossible, but I just want to make sure so that we can talk to our customer. And do we have any articles relating to this cross-OS support? I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much and have a good day!
