I was looking on reddit about intuitive reading and someone made a good point. And that was about highly processed food which is engineered specifically to get you addicted to it. And thats true. The food industry simply doesnt care or even worse - wants the population fatter and eating more while at the same time making foods more and more processed (cheaper) and addictive. It came to a point that 80% of the grocery store is consisted of food that is made to "mess up" your inner energy "calculator" so you always crave more and more because the calories on the food dont match the caloric intake your body thinks is taking in. It tips the scale off, making you hungrier and hungrier even if you just ate a whole day's calories worth meal. Back when food was simpler (fruits, meat, dairy, vegetable, grains) trusting your intuition was easier, you fell full because you were taking in calories your body could succesfully process. But now? Different story. After eating fast food, you feel hungry even if it was 2k calories. So yes a restrictive mindset can lead to binge eating and should be tackled but at the same time one should try to abstain from these addictive foods because they will literally and biologically "manipulate" your satiation and hunger signals.

This is an amazing video. I lost 60 pounds through an extreme calorie deficit, I used to believe it would be easy to return to normal eating, and all this stuff was for wusses, but I was wrong! I’ve struggled with a disorder for the past few months and I really needed something like this. My brain was like rewired to be scared of most food and it feels like torture. I want to start eating normally again and I can’t stop checking my weight on the scale after every single meal :( I hope to return to intuitive eating again without gaining too much weight.

My first exposure to intuitive eating was Weigh Down. The only guidelines was eat when hungry until satisfied about 20 years ago. About 2 years ago i read the intuitive eating books you recommended. I just could not grasp the concept of intuitive eating when hungry until satisfied. I fell into hangry before i recognized i was hungry. Recently found my weigh down book and started to read it again. Then i found your blogs. I binge watch listen to them to advance with intuitive eating. I felt there was something to the IE concept but had to discover how make it work for me. Guess this is why i dummy it down by telling others to start by eating 3 meals a day any food you desire until satisfied. Sip on a drink in between bites to slow down eating to allow you to feel when physically satisfied. If wanting a snack ask yourself if hungry. Do not get over hungry. If not hungry keep until next meal. As for exercise select the exercise that helps you feel well. Feelings of deprivation and over eating diminishes over time. No foods are bad some may make you feel better physically and some help you feel well mentally. Maybe not your message but try to put a spin on it for understanding to help lead others away from dieting. mentality.

I am recovering from Anorexia. I was eating very little for a couple of months and drastically dropped weight. My mother threatened to take me out of school if I continued like this, so I stopped. At first I didn’t want to recover. Now I would sell my soul to recover. I haven’t challenged fear foods and I’m very much so still very attached to my calorie counter app. I’m eating more but eating only “healthy” food. How can I go back to normal? I just want to be a normal teenager with a normal healthy relationship with food.

hey, I know it’s been a year and I don’t know at what point you are right now, so if the topic is triggering to you please just ignore this. I literally have almost exactly the same story. I have been eating very little and dropped much weight but when my mum noticed I wanted to stop because of how worried she was. So I never really recovered for myself but I still honored my extreme hunger. However, when I saw the weight gain and people started commenting on my body again (even my mum) I just couldn’t do it anymore. I wanted to starve myself again but it just didn’t work. So then I wanted to start eating „enough but healthy“. Now I’m at a point where my weight is healthy and my eating habits too but my mind is complete out of control. It’s still this obsession with food and losing weight/fear of gaining weight. I don’t know what to do, I am not physically restricting but I am thinking about food 24/7 and I feel out of control. I just want to be a healthy, intuitive eater and finally get over food. In the end of the day it’s just food, isn’t it?

@@defnotjana no it isn't, I can guarantee you that recovery is posble, in my case it was bulimia but I still tougth about food 24/7, I have never been underweight so it was difficult to me starting recovery, you need to face your fears no matter how sacred you are, but I believe you can, life has a bunch of great things you can enjoy, we are not defined by our bodies, I hope you're okay

Then i started a relationship with someone who likes to enjoy food at the highest level😁 we are now both trying to loose weight. But i think i kind of got distracted from the path i was going-Which i hear can be pretty long, like 4-5 years maybe! I think now i need to refresh my mind aBout this concept since im an spiritual person too✨🌎 thanks for sharing this video

I had pretty bad anorexia a while back. Even tho i was very skinny i lost my whole personality. I would never talk or make sarcastic jokes like usual. All my friends thought i was very boring which was true. Unfortunately over Christmas i started binging every night. Everyone thought i got better because i had my personality back but it was just the sugar rush from all the sugar the night beforeand i was actually far worse mentally. I would have probably developed bulimia if i had been able to make myself throw up, but fortunately couldnt do so

Hello! This video was pretty helpful as I’m pretty new to the concept of eating intuitively (I’m 19 and have been yo-yo dieting for almost 10 years). I just had a couple of questions if you didn’t mind answering them: 1. Should you count calories while doing this simply to ensure that you are eating enough? 2. What do u do about feeling like you have to binge food to get satisfaction from it? I.e it feels like I can’t enjoy food w/o overeating it. 3. Should u eat regular meals even when u aren’t hungry in order to prevent binge eating?

Hej, I have autism and I don't recognize sygnals from my body. When I was a little kid I didn't inform my parents about when I'm full, so sometimes, if they guessed incorectly, I was just eating until I threw up. To this they I cannot decide when I'm full and when I'm hungry. When I have food, I eat, when I don't have food, I don't eat. Recently my mother made so good diner, that I ate four plates, and I stopped only because there was no more left. So I eat (or no) my weight is going up (still okey tho) and I feel horrible. Can intuitive eating be for me? What can I do to make my situation better?

While I don't disagree in the way society portrays what a healthy woman should look like (I have two daughters and we talk about this a lot), for men, there is some of that. I think for us, society tells us that being muscular and fit is what is most attractive. That isn't always the case. The idea you talk about about being comfortable with your body and finding your set point weight resonates with men as well.
