Introductory Rotational Equilibrium Problem

A uniform 0.093 kg meterstick is supported at the 15 cm and 92 cm marks. When a 0.250 kg object is placed at the 6.0 cm mark, what are the magnitudes of the forces supporting the meterstick? Want Lecture Notes? www.flippingphysics.com/rotat... This is an AP Physics 1 Topic.

You are one of the best lecturers I've ever seen on KZread. I'm actually passing my physics class in college because of you. Even though my class involves integrals and derivatives, I learn so much from your AP Physics 1 videos. I showed my friend your videos and she really likes them. ☺ I feel like you've went through the struggles that a lot of physics students have because you teach in a way that anyone can easily understand and relate to. I wish there were more high school teachers like you.

Agreed! I passed my Physics I class with a B and think I'll earn an A next semester in Physics I with Calculus.

hi, why is r(o)m(o)g not positive in the final force equation since the original force is -m(o)g?

I think you are confusing the direction of torque with the direction of force. They are two very different things.

I thought that when we summed the forces we had to do it on the objects individually? or is every force acting on the meter stick so we don't need to do that?

Physics is a foreign language; you need to know how to speak it correctly. I would reference the order of the videos and go back a bit: flippingphysics.com/algebra.html
