Thanks! I'm going to show this to my Dad who used to own a machine shop back when a 16K memory upgrade for a CNC milling machine cost $5000. He used to write gcode in a text editor. He'll probably shit himself when he sees this! It sure has come a LONG way. Wish I could afford a machining center and fit it in the garage just to play around with.

John, I am fairly new to SOLIDWORKS CAM, my question is how to you get the CAM feature tree to display in an assembly? I have the Addin but i can go no further than that. I was trying to machine a part in a vice that i assembled in SW to get a better visualization of tool travel.

Hello, Adam! The Assembly machining for SOLIDWORKS CAM is part of SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional. The version that comes with SOLIDWORKS is Standard and has part only machining. Please let me know if you have any other questions! John

@@the3dexperience807 ok, so I have to work in single part files, because SW trickled options to my Company, with which I now have to jump thru hoops with a limited system, because I don't want to be the new employee to ask them to spend more money on a system I didn't buy in the first place. Way to go salesmen, who should have had a clue regarding a manufacturing company with inhouse tooling and realized they would need the better version.

Depends on the case, some people prefer Mastercam for this kind of works, Blender is really useful for animation and organic modeling, I'd rather use Solidworks for mold design.
