Introduction to Law School Character & Fitness

In this video, Spivey Consulting law school admissions consultants Karen Buttenbaum (former Director of Admissions at Harvard Law School), Danielle Early (also formerly of Harvard Law), Nathan Neely (formerly of University of Houston Law and UNLV Law), and Mike Spivey (formerly of Vanderbilt, WUSTL, and U Colorado law schools) discuss the basics of the character and fitness section of the law school application, and how to assess the seriousness of your situation if you have something to report in that section.

Thank you. This video made me cry. To practice law in the same state in which I was incarcerated would be a dream come true. I remember in 2017, I was convicted for disorderly conduct in Maricopa County. Watching my friends and family looking at me in disbelief and crying was heart breaking. From being a first generation college graduate, to being sentenced to jail time for 6+ months was the hardest thing I have ever been through. This led me into a constant state of depression and alcohol abuse. That being said I never gave up, and thanks to a great friend who happened to be in the legal field gave me an opportunity to work as a pre litigation case manager. Alvaro Vasquez who is well known in the personal injury world, thank you for not giving up on me. Thank you for making this video, means a lot to me and my family. God bless to all of you and your families and thank you for considering people like me to be worthy of one day practicing law. Sincerely, Jose Delgado 7/12/2024 at 10:57 pm

I believe that the now Attorney to whom you are referring to is Reginald Betts. His story is what got me out of my depression and to hope again.
