IEC 61850 standard had revolutionized the way protocol needs to be developed, implemented, and engineered. Though it had started targeting the substations, the concepts of data modeling, self-discovery, engineering workflow and segregation of actual data payload from basic specification made the same future-proof standard that enabled it to cross the boundaries. Wind, DER, Hydro standards are already in place as an extension of the same along with inter-substation, substation-to-control center, WAMS communication standards under the same umbrella. ASE & Kalkitech introduces a set of To-be-continued webinars that will enable anyone to understand the standard from the beginner level and moves on to the expert level as the same progress. We plan the first 4 sessions on IEC 61850 now and depending on the attendee's feedback and demands we can refine the same with subsequent sessions.

This session provides an introduction to IEC 61850 starting from communication requirements of the substation, requirements of a wide standard that covers entire SS requirements, IEC 61850 aims and concepts & different communication and engineering use-case scenarios.
