The third episode of the Home Theater Beginner's Series is finally completed. I've revised the script for over a year, striving to systematically outline and lower the entry threshold, allowing more beginners to experience the joy of home theaters and expand this community. Thus, I devoted considerable effort to visualizing the animation, constantly seeking a balance between being "useful for beginners" and "entertaining". However, the final result still leaves me unsatisfied. Yet, I convinced myself to finish it first; otherwise, procrastination might delay it for another year. This video isn't the ultimate truth; I hope it serves as a stepping stone for further discussions.
I want to convey to everyone that for the combination of an AV receiver and speakers, purchasing the equipment is not the end but only the beginning. With time and deeper understanding, it's highly likely that you'll become increasingly dissatisfied with the current performance. At this point, don't immediately doubt the quality of your equipment or whether you've spent enough money. First, check if the source material is good, if the room's acoustic treatment is adequate, if the speaker placement is correct, if calibration has been done, as these factors greatly affect the final listening experience. Achieving over 90% performance from a system is rare, even for many enthusiasts or home theater dealers, including myself. Because it's not just about the budget; it's also about mastering the system and understanding acoustics and scientific practices. It sounds daunting, doesn't it? But it's also one of the pleasures of owning a home theater.
During the troubleshooting process, I encountered many problems and uncertainties that I couldn't solve on my own. I've been recording them bit by bit. This year, I plan to go out and meet with experts, continuing the "Torturing the Experts" series. While refining my knowledge system and continuing to practice, I'll continue to share.
