These videos have no fluff or esoteric speech just practical science. Dropping science son! These videos are great. Really! That's youtube. The gems are diamonds in the rough. The ones that get a lot of likes are the ones that have motivational content and no real substance. Life is hard. Do it the hard way. And get it done. And shut up. And don't be an idiot! That's my motivational advice for the day.

Thank you! Those days I'm learning UX course and we're working with Figma for the wireframes and Whimsical for the Sitemap + Userflow. I noticed you didn't talk about Whimsical, is there a reason for that? So far it feels very intuitive, rich and easy
@AriPxl
3 жыл бұрын
Hey, no particular reason, Whimsical is a great tool I just used Miro cause I use it for a lot of preliminary design exercises and workshops and have a had great experience with it. One advice I can give is to think of apps as tools, they basically enable to have an outcome, in this case a sitemap, it doesn’t matter which app you use as long as it gets you to your destination, use the one that you’re most comfortable with and know best. I’ll make some videos on whimsical later on as well. Great that you’re learning UX I’m planning to publish more videos so stay tuned :)

This is absolutely helpful. Is there any plans to showcase the same in Figma?

Great video! The thing I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around is, what's the difference between detailed pages and category/list pages?
@AriPxl
2 жыл бұрын
Category page would be: List of all of my items, where I can browser through them e.g. -- Mattress -- Bed Side Tables -- etc If I click on Mattress on the category page it would then take me to that specific Mattress page. In another example. When you search for Shoes on the Nike website, you get a list of all the shoes they have available and when you click on a specific shoe it would then take you to a unique page where it would provide further info about that shoe.

This is amazing, thank you so much for taking the time to walk us through Miro and your process for making a sitemap. I have a question about the categories, all of the categories, such as "Shop", "About", those categories will not actually be navigation menu item labels but they are included within the sitemap to organize it better? Whereas, on the actual site, the actual navigation will include, "Beds &Mattress", "Seating", "Desk & Tables", "Organization" and, for "About us" category, the actual menu item or link will be labeled, "Our Story". Is this correct? Again, thank you so much for this video.
@AriPxl
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Naz, thanks, it depends on the situation, in this particular case the category labels "Shop", "About" etc would appear on the navigation, however, they wouldn't have their own landing page, they would have a dropdown, but in your case, as a designer that's a decision you need to make. What makes sense in order for you to represent your categories?

Tks for your informative video. I'm newbie in this field so can you tell me what is the different between IA and Sitemaps, Thanks
@AriPxl
2 жыл бұрын
Welcome to the UI UX community:) Information Architecture in simple terms is the practice of organising information on our platform and feeding it to the end user in the format that makes the most sense. (The purpose of information changes depending on the situation) Sitemaps is one exercise to plan your information architecture in a macro level. There are other tools like user flows, page hierarchy and layouts and more that help to improve the information architecture for your projects.

What is the difference between Inforamtion Architecture and Site map and tree model
@AriPxl

Sitemap is a part of the information architecture, information architecture or IA is an umbrella term that covers a whole bunch of things

I followed step by step and created a color-coded list in excel it all worked fine except my sticky note color did not transfer. All of my sticky notes are yellow. I have a free account in Miro. Does your tutorial only apply to paid accounts in Miro? or must I use google sheets instead of excel?

@Sebastian-zs8cp2 жыл бұрын
Hi, what is the difference between flowchart and site map and when do i use them?
@AriPxl
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Flowcharts are used as user flows, they’re more micro and focus on a task and map out the steps and the decision a user might go through in order to complete that task. Sitemaps are information oriented, it helps you layout your information and pages in a way that flows well and makes sense for your users. Hope this helps, I’ll make a more thorough video on User Flows / Flowcharts.

You mentioned that Sitemaps are a part of Information Architecture and not the whole. Can you tell me the other parts that make up the whole (of IA)?
@AriPxl
2 жыл бұрын
Great question. Information Architecture in simple words means how you choose to provide information or reveal your design to the end user. So Sitemap is one way to help you solve that in a macro way but there are other exercises that can help you achieve good IA, for example another part of building information architecture are page layouts, how you choose to reveal what information in what format to your users, another might be userflows, again what information do you choose to show your user and how would you choose to structure it helps you approach your IA differently. Hopefully this answer helped.

Hi Ari, Just followed!, i just integrated this in my workflow with a client, meeting in one hour! quick question: i would like to do a competitive audit for them as a next step, i went over your channel but i couldnt find anything related to that, do you have any resources you could recommend to check out? thanks a lot!
Very clear and easy understanding of your content. I'm watching this for my exam , writing and making notes of whatever you are explaining. 😀 Your voice though 😻🤦 kind of distraction

thank you for this amazing tutorial. I have a question, why do we call the home a "details page" , it was yellow in the beginning, then we made it green, why is that? thanks!
Thank you! Those days I'm learning UX course and we're working with Figma for the wireframes and Whimsical for the Sitemap + Userflow. I noticed you didn't talk about Whimsical, is there a reason for that? So far it feels very intuitive, rich and easy
@AriPxl

@AriPxl
2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nisha, potentially in FigJam in the future since I’m slowly moving away from Miro to that, the tool might be different but the process will be the same. Glad you found this helpful
Is it design after user flow and information Architecture and is it design in design phase in design thinking?
Can you clarify the meaning of "pages that live off the ecosysntem at 15:34" ?
For steps 1 and 2, if the client has no website, then how can you do step 2? Since if there's no website, then what content do you audit?
Is there a way we could have access to the figma files you presented in the video?
Why do we start sketching and make flows before doing sitemap?
Great video! The thing I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around is, what's the difference between detailed pages and category/list pages?
@AriPxl
Nice informative video, may you please tell us and arrange the right order as per UX like Sitemap, card sorting and tree testing, which process comes first, thanks!

@AriPxl

@AriPxl
@AriPxl
Жыл бұрын
Sitemap is a part of the information architecture, information architecture or IA is an umbrella term that covers a whole bunch of things
I followed step by step and created a color-coded list in excel it all worked fine except my sticky note color did not transfer. All of my sticky notes are yellow. I have a free account in Miro. Does your tutorial only apply to paid accounts in Miro? or must I use google sheets instead of excel?
@AriPxl
Жыл бұрын
Hey Fabiola, Try using Google Sheets rather than excel, I don't believe it has anything to do with paid vs free Miro Accounts.
Hi, what is the difference between flowchart and site map and when do i use them?
@AriPxl

@AriPxl
