    I want to marry Tatsuya Takahashi! The products that he has helped engineer for Korg over the last half decade have been incredible; It really gives me faith that the big synth manufacturers can develop *interesting* new products, with their own unique and inspiring sounds. We are living in a new golden era of synthesizers, and Korg is leading the way in affordability and making inspirational instruments. I was hoping for a "Poly Volca" at this price range. At most I hoped for a Volca keys x 4, with stripped down but fun features. Instead Korg has made a 4 voice analog poly that satisfies everything a synth player could ask for in an affordable analog poly synth. For us newer generation of analog-lovers who weren't fortunate enough to grow up with older gear, or who simply can't afford to buy vintage classics, this piece of kit is a godsend. Congrats to everyone who worked on this! You have likely defined a generation of synth players with this hardware. Good job.

    For a lot of reasons, I consider this to be the analog MicroKorg. And I love the original MicroKorgs, even if it is a digital synthesizer. I own 3 of them, so they're definitely doing something right. It gets a bad rap, but the functionality on the MicroKorg when you get past the presets, it's capable of some great, complex sounds and modulations. I think the Minilogue picks up where that left off in the best way imaginable. I'm really excited by what I'm hearing and seeing out of this synthesizer and I hope to purchase one when I have the funds available.

    More great stuff from Korg savior Tatsuya. Also love the Volca FM. Something I would really really love to see is a Volca sized mixer perhaps 6 or 8 channel if possible with a few basic effects. This would be great to run all the volcas through so you don't need a big desk. It could make a Volca set up for live performance a lot more portable and less complicated. I currently use a Korg KM-402 which is an old 4 channel DJ mixer with a built in Kaoss pad. I'm thinking scale something like that down. Only needs to be mini jack inputs. No need for faders just the small Volca style rotaries. No need for a Kaoss pad say 4 or 6 really usable effects that can be assigned separately to each channel. So I could put some reverb on the keys and some overdrive on the bass for example. Some sort of system like with the big effect knobs on a Pioneer DJM 900 directly below the EQ. Just select effect and channel you want the effect on then adjust parameter. I dunno maybe i'll just keep dreaming.

    It does sound like he says sine wave, which is strange since he designed the synth and knows it doesn't even produce a sine wave. It does produce a triangle wave, which is similar. Maybe the video editor messed it up.

  • @Green_Phosphorus

    @Green_Phosphorus

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yeah I'm not sure about this bit... "sound wave" doesn't sound right to me. But actually, this synth is capable of producing a sine wave - by turning the resonance of the filter to max without any oscillators. You can even tune it and use key tracking filter cutoff to play the filter. But he certainly didn't do that here. Maybe the editor didn't intend to have the dialogue match the demonstrations just yet. But probably it's just a mistake.

    Korg know what they are doing and they listen to demands of their customers. Awesome and well thought out product! I hope delay can be set to produce a good chorus. It would be great if there was an 8 voice paraphonic mode, similar to that on the Poly 800, though. I wouldn't say it sounds warm as it's leaning more towards cutting, bright character, but this can be excellent when you need the synth to cut through. But I'm sure that with a bit of work and careful filter setting it can sound mellow, too. I'm looking forward playing it.

Ah Roland, if only you offered better integration and outputs on your boutique line,you would've had me excited even though they're essentially vsts in a box. Shit I would've been happy with a og microkorg with a few more modulation routings and a analog filter section(essentially making it a suped up dw8000 that's portable) at this price.
