The reality is none of these 'revival' movements will take off unless you do the nitty gritty and start working on either decompiling the game to port to an upgraded engine or remaking the game to be backwards compatible with old .bls saves. Throwing more add-ons or servers at the game won't bring it back because the reasons it died have nothing to do with a lack of community created content but rather limitations in the base game preventing it from retaining new players: -Lack of a default mod browser makes installing 'essential' add-ons a chore. New players won't even know about half the things that are possible in the game without actively seeking them out -Removal of maps killed any sense of exploration the game had. Minecraft exploded because it provided players with something to explore. Countless servers used to thrive on just wandering around Bedroom-Night ghost hunting or camping on The Slopes. Now you start with nothing except a couple default builds that don't come close to Maps in neither scale nor performance. -Slow netcode makes downloading add-on cache a pain for new players. -An outdated forward renderer lacking basic things like ambient occlusion and anti aliasing. The shadows look like garbage and dilute indoor lighting. In 2007 Blockland looked so much better than Roblox the devs actually came to the BLF to cope. -32 bit memory limits the brickcount. Bricks are relatively slow by today's standards and don't take advantage of modern rendering optimizations. -Lacks any kind of contraptions/physics like Brick Rigs, gmod, or even Roblox. Building things just to look at them isn't fun, or else Brickadia would be massive but it's not. -No method for the server to provide client-sided elements. Things like GUIs shouldn't need a mod download. Roblox already does this. -Symbiotic relationship between servers and players. Servers need players to be enjoyable, and players need servers to find enjoyment. There are no longer enough players to fuel the majority of gamemodes which were not designed to be singleplayer experiences. You can't even populate Boss Battles anymore without making it some discord scheduled event. Overall the entry barrier for Blockland is too steep for too little reward. There is nothing to 'do' as a new player, there is no reason to come back to the game after booting it up once. You can make all the builds and add-ons in the world but unless an influx of new players is coming in the game will keep bleeding out. If you want the game to grow again you need to get past Badspot's reigns on the source code and start moving forward to attract new players. There is a ton of potential for a game like Blockland, but it needs to grow up. There are enough of you smart people still clinging onto this corpse. You can make it happen, I believe in you.

The greatest thing I miss in Blockland is the terrain and interiors feature. It would have been cool if Badspot released an older Blockland version to the public again and calling it Blockland Classic or something.

The thing I like about Blockland is that it never abandoned it's original purpose of being a brick building game with little toy people the way Roblox did with all the realistic textures and "R-thro" shit. Plus being a pay-to-play experience means the community is manageably small in comparison to Roblox and is also older and more mature.

The long awaited return.

I truly love Blockland a lot but the main reason why I left it was because of it's engine limitations, not necessarily because of a lack of content, or anything like that. Maybe this project will help improve the overall quality of Blockland and motivate people to implement optimization add-ons for certain things, like quicker build loading and stuff like that.

I just looked this up cause I’m not much of a gamer but I definitely partook in my younger years and this shit really excited I got put on to this game by a neighbor kid in 08 and it was the first reason I started trying to get money cause I wanted to buy the full version this game was special I loved it’s sort of node based coding thing I think it was called eventing it’s wild to see how much roblox rose to prominence and how far this game fell I’m glad there’s people that still remember it

Yakuza is a 10/10 series of games for me.

I've played Blockland only from December in 2017 but playerbase really has dropped since then so Let's bring back Blockland!

If I had the money I would buy blockland and make it free so if anybody wanted to try it they had nothing to loose and then I would start advertising the game and add cosmetics to earn the money back and use it to fund updates

yeah but unfortunately they banned a ton of people, couldn't handle the community and thought we were too "toxic"

I got instantly timed out for "sending links" to my blockland content in #media when there was nothing on it in the rules ☠ edit: its fixed now
