    Thank you for this video! I was wondering why Chinese tea trays had drainage holes in them, and this helped me realize that I am probably brewing my tea improperly. It also helped me realize why my new (very cute) tea set is so small-- it's supposed to be a taste experience and a wholesome hospitality-based thing, not just a utility "get liquid into my body" type thing. Time to buy a small starter tea tray! Guess I have a new hobby now.

    Yixing pot! So familiar. My father is a big fan in collecting clay tea pots and went to Yixing like every year when I am a kid.

    I was thinking to myself that I probably need a tea tray of some kind. Then I looked at the prices... starting at $1200. On second thought I don't need one at all.

    I’ve seen them for as low as 50 bucks. Some really cute wooden ones too.

    thank you for the video!! I knew I had remembered a video in which someone was served tea where the server "pre-poured" a cup into a draining tray (most similar to the wooden one in the beginning of the video.) In that video, it was presented as getting rid of the "first cup" of tea so that it wasn't too strong, but here it is to wake up the tea...I wonder if it is really the same reason. I'll need to find that video again.

    Many tea trays have on the bottom right side, a steel cup like thing. What is that for?

    What sort of kettle is that?

  • @redblossomtea

    @redblossomtea

    Hi Emma, it’s a stainless steel gooseneck kettle - these are very popular in the professional coffee world, but work great for tea as well. The one we use is a stovetop model, but there are electric (and even temperature-controlled) versions as well. We don’t currently offer water kettles for sale, but there are many great choices online - just search for “gooseneck kettle” and you should find some options.

    Tea tables are intended for people drinking a lot of tea in one place. Take a look at our video on Dry Brewing for an alternative method: kzread.info/dash/bejne/fYyWlqqDZrW-qpM.html
